The Design Engineer will work closely with the design team, engineers, production, procurement, and sales in a truly collaborative, on-demand manufacturing environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesUsing Fusion 360 to model lighting fixture hardware and assemblies
Create precise part drawings in Fusion 360 for various manufacturing trades: CNC Machining, Bending, Metal Spinning, Glass Blowing, Water-Jet cutting, 3D Printing, Woodturning, and more.
Listen to production, management, quality, planning, and purchasing personnel and use those inputs to improve the process.
Work under the Senior Design Engineer to produce custom lighting fixture designs and modifications.
Assist the Engineering Team with updating and releasing product improvements.
Organize new parts for procurement inside our task management software.
Create custom Production Sheets and a Bill of Materials to upload into our ERP software.
Prototype new hardware and fixture designs in our machine shop.
Assemble prototypes of new or existing designs to examine ways to improve production efficiency.
Upload and maintain production data related to parts, assemblies, and work orders in our ERP software (Netsuite).
What we're looking for:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 7 years of Industrial Design, Product Design, or Mechanical Engineering experience.
A background or interest in lighting or related fields is highly desirable.A degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Mechanical aptitude, with an eye for details and manufacturing knowledge.
Highly Proficient in Fusion 360
Experience with Netsuite or similar ERP systems
Strong communication skills, including outstanding written communication skills
Ability to take ownership of your work and confidently articulate design intent while welcoming feedback and dialogue
Delivering documentation that provides critical analysis and suggestions for innovative solutions
Must be team-oriented and self-motivated
