    DESCRIPTION

    Opening a new hotel is not for the faint- hearted, but it is an extraordinary opportunity to create something special and lasting.

    The right candidate is organized, detail-oriented and a team builder. They have e proven sales background and live to network.

    This GM should be a do-er, ready to roll up their sleeves and with the operational experience to manage the hotel day to day and drive GSS.

    This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced GM to open the, first ever franchise full-service Marriott hotel inside the DC Beltway.

    Currently under construction, the hotel is expected to open in January 2023 together with the VP of New Builds + Transitions, you will help set the course for the property and hire your opening team.

    From supervising brand training and meeting operational and project deadlines to following budget guidelines and fostering a welcoming and supportive culture, the GM sets the tone.

    As the face of the hotel, you will network with city officials and local business leaders, building awareness and developing community relationships; on-site the GM is a lifestyle ambassador, embodying both the brands values and PMs LIVE spirit.


    Responsibilities + Authorities

    • Always treat guests with courtesy and respect.
    • Display honesty + integrity.
    • Be a hands-on do-er and inspirational leader able to motivate team members to drive for success and exceed expectations.
    • Build strong relationships with colleagues, partners, clients, and outside vendors.

    Specific Duties:

    • Effectively recruit, train and mentor team members and fosters strong team culture.
    • Plan, organize, lead, and/or participate in hotel meetings including staff meetings, sales meetings, etc. as part of the hotels executive team.
    • Financial Responsibilities prepare annual budget; assure achievement through effective cost analysis, identify unfavorable variances, and implement corrective measures; weekly forecasting and planning within budgetary guidelines; adhere to cost control measures; using all company systems while follow the expense approval process.
    • Sales Plays a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts including meeting clients, hosting luncheons and receptions and interacting with on-site contacts on a daily weekly and monthly basis. Work with Director of Sales to support preparation of annual top line projections. 90-day forecast weekly preparation to optimize revenue opportunities
    • Marketing Responsible for overseeing development and execution of integrated marketing plan including PR, media relations, advertising, partnerships, social media marketing, influencer engagement and sponsorships
    • Owner Relations clear and concise owner communications.
    • Manage staff, evaluations, coordinate salaries and wages, performance standards, and hiring / corrective actions, where applicable.
    • Foster strong connection with department heads to be always approachable
    • Oversee property inspections, maintenance, improvement, guest experiences, and assure that all policies and procedures are fully and equally implemented and enforced.
    • Responsible for Risk Management including OSHA compliance/ Emergency Disaster Plans procedures executed accordingly.
    • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts including meeting clients, hosting luncheons and receptions and meeting with on-site contacts on a daily weekly and monthly basis.
    • Maintains a polished, professional personal appearance. Sets the tone for the entire property team and act as a model to associated on property

    • Proven, dynamic leader and self-starter with Preopening Hotel Experience
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Able to recruit and establish sales team
    • Demonstrated problem solving and interpersonal skills
    • Luxury and independent hotel experience preferred
    • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information to resolve conflicts
    • Local and regional market experience a plus
    • Honesty, integrity, passion for hard work and success. Detail obsessed. Results driven.
    • Hires and creates a cohesive and high-performance Executive Committee that continuously strives for positive results and improvement
    • Serves as a passionate brand advocate and ensures that the intent of the brand is pulled through in the guest experience; communicates a clear and consistent message regarding, property leadership team, and owners; serves as a role model by demonstrating exceptional work ethic and service delivery for all employees on property; champions change; inspires and motivates team to achieve operational excellence.
    • Strong eye for product and service detail as well as attention to product maintenance
    • Deep understanding of 4-star service mentality to deliver both world class product and services.

    Qualifications + Skills

    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel programs.
    • Microsoft Teams understanding
    • Knowledge of property management systems, both F&B and rooms a plus.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Reliable; able to multi-task and learn on the job.
    • At least five (5) years of resort hospitality industry experience.
    • Strong Boutique, independent, Luxury/Lifestyle hotel experience
    • Strong Food and Beverage experience a must, events experience a plus.
    • Experience with multi-tasking various items in a timely and efficient manner.

    ABOUT WASHINGTON MARRIOTT | CAPITOL HILL* Opening in January of 2023 the Washington Marriott Capitol Hill will be the first, full-service franchise Marriott inside the Beltway.
