    Default job background
    Full time
    Description
    Organization Overview

The Office of Technology Transfer ("OTT") at The Rockefeller University manages and oversees all aspects of commercially relevant intellectual property generated by the University's world class scientific research laboratories. OTT supports the University's research enterprise through a variety of activities, including scouting for new technologies internally within the University, patenting inventions, identifying commercial partners, negotiating licensing transactions, and monitoring post-transaction compliance.
    Overview

We are seeking a skilled Alliance Manager ("AM") to support pioneering programs (both existing and future) aimed at translating Rockefeller's scientific discoveries into commercial products in the form of therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices and other products. The AM will be responsible for maintaining existing strategic partnerships with commercial licensees of Rockefeller's intellectual property, including startups, biotech companies, and large pharmaceutical companies, as well as with not-for-profit organizations in high-profile, multi-party, long-term collaborations. Established relationships that the AM will manage currently include, but are not limited to, those created by New York's new Chan Zuckerberg Biohub, the Metropolitan AntiViral Drug Accelerator, and the Tri-Institutional Therapeutics Discovery Institute. The AM will also be a key point of contact for RU's Heads of Laboratory and other RU researchers who are involved in these programs.

This is a terrific opportunity for an alliance manager in a collaborative, cross-functional office focused on translating Rockefeller's cutting-edge science into commercial products.

    Responsibilities

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Serving as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners to coordinate, communicate and document contract-related matters.
    • Proactively identifying risks or points of misalignment in partnerships and addressing them in a time-sensitive manner, engaging leadership as needed.
    • Reviewing relevant OTT contracts governing existing partnerships and creating business processes and tools to track milestones and key objectives to measure progress.
    • Managing the oversight and enforcement of diligence and compliance provisions of commercial licenses involving University intellectual property.
    • Preparing comprehensive reports for leadership detailing status, activities, and recommendations for improvement on select partnerships.
    • Supporting implementation of select University projects and programs as determined by the Associate Vice President, Technology Transfer.
    • Negotiating intellectual property provisions in funding agreements sourced by Rockefeller's Heads of Laboratory, coordinating with OTT's licensing team as needed.
    • Collaborating within OTT and with Rockefeller laboratories to leverage alliances and other partnerships effectively.
    • Performing other related duties as assigned, including limited work-related travel.
    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BS in life sciences, biotechnology, or a related field required. MS, or advanced degree preferred. Other educational backgrounds will be considered, if accompanied with a proven track record in life sciences, biotechnology, or related fields.

3+ years of proven experience in alliance management, partnership development, or in a similar role in a for-profit company or non-profit institution engaged in life sciences or healthcare.

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple simultaneous tasks and responsibilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, must have experience scheduling meetings and managing virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom).

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience reviewing and summarizing contracts required; ability to redline contracts is a plus.
Experience in translational science and/or clinical trial environment will be considered favorably.
