- Prepare daily prep list and share/delegate responsibilities of cooking to ensure timely execution of each meal.
- Exhibit great organizational skills while providing professional management and direction to the kitchen.
- Lead by example and assist in cleaning projects when applicable.
- Maintain a neat, well groomed personal appearance at all times and observe company dress code
- Learn, follow and enforce company policies, kitchen procedures and sanitation guidelines.
- Assume duties and responsibilities in the absence of the Head Chef and/or Department manager.
- Assist and share in other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Head Chef.
- Commitment to quality service, and food and beverage knowledge.
- Cover line employee's call out shifts on short notice and scheduled vacations/holidays.
- Manage and direct the activities of assigned staff; Ensures a trained, motivated and professional staff capable of providing efficient and effective operations and exceptional service.
- Coaches and counsels staff as necessary.
- Facilitate training for new hires.
- Communicate any new methods, ideas, staffing issues, etc. with Head Chef to advance quality, efficiency, survey results, revenues and labor/food cost budgets.
- Check in deliveries for accuracy/quality and assure they are put away properly.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Kitchen management experience preferred

Mountainside Cafe - Falls Village, CT
About the Position:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative chef to contribute to the day-to-day operations of the café. Your role would be supporting the Head Chef and stepping in their place when needed, as well as training extended care clients and upholding the Mountainside mission and values.
Schedule:
Wednesday through Sunday between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm.

The base rate of pay for this position is $22.00 to $24.00 per hour. Actual pay is determined based on a number of job-related factors including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, performance, and working conditions.
