    The Wholesale Product Risk works within the Wholesale NFR team, reporting to the Head of Business & Product Risk. The role holder will be responsible for overseeing adherence to the operational risk framework across Wholesale, providing co-ordination and expertise support to CMB and Global Banking, on all non-financial risks relating to Credit & Lending, Sales Suitability and New Product Due Diligence, to ensure monitoring and maintenance of an effective operational risk and control environment. The role holder ensures adherences to the procedures and works alongside the business to manage risks as they arise, horizon scan for future risks impacting the business, and tracking current issues with relevant MI and escalation. The position is responsible for driving the effective governance and management of Wholesale Credit & Lending Sales Suitability, Product Governance in the First Line of Defense.

    Here's what you can expect:

    This role will include:

    • Developing key relationships across Wholesale, both locally and globally
    • Ensuring a clear understanding of Operational risk arising from Credit & lending across Wholesale, working alongside key C&L stakeholders to maintain a robust control environment and escalate key issues.
    • Close collaboration with business partners to ensure appropriate control and testing design.
    • Creation and maintenance of key metrics to track progress and ensure appropriate escalation.
    • Providing support and advice on compliance and operational risk matters and represent Global Banking (GB) and Commercial Banking as point of contact for Product Due Diligence, as required.
    • Identify and share best practices with business, function, and stakeholder, and heighten control standards.
    • Support GB and CMB Sales Suitability, including inventory of products.
    • Maintenance and evolution of procedures and processes inventory.
    • Review and facilitate read across of issues/ events from other business lines or functions.
    • Lead the New Product Due Diligence reviews for both Commercial and Global Banking, working in close collaboration with business partners to highlight risk.

    For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $141,300 and $211,900.

    The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

    Requirements

    • Knowledge of Global Banking and/or Commercial Banking, including products, processes, systems, controls and how risks materialize.
    • Preferably gained through experience in first line for at least 5 years.
    • Leadership skills.
    • Ability to collaborate across matrixed stakeholders.
    • Good understanding of the Group's Non-financial risk Framework.
    • Knowledge of the changing regulatory environment especially in the financial services sector.
    • Proven problem-solving skills with ability to consider alternative and lateral solutions.
    • Highly developed communication, presentation and influencing skills set.
    • Ability to prioritize and work independently under pressure within a team environment.
    • Ability to use strong judgmental skills to identify and resolve complex problems whilst adhering to timelines and quality of output.
