Position:
Full-Time Lecturer, Multiple Subject Coordinator (1-Academic Year , renewable)

Effective Date:
August 19, 2024 (Fall Semester)

Salary Range:

The Full-Time Lecturer B (Academic Year) classification salary is $71,100 to $151,128 per academic year (paid as 12 monthly payments).

The anticipated hiring range is $75,000 to $85,008 per year. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:


  • M.A. or M.S. in Education or a related field
  • Earned U.S. public school teaching credential or California Teacher Permit or higher permit (e.g., supervisor or director permits)
  • Experience as the teacher of record in U.S. K8 classrooms
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching through a culturally responsive/sustaining pedagogical lens
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse, multilingual, and neurodiverse elementarylevel populations, especially those similar to the surrounding CSULB communities.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Academic and professional training and expertise in equityminded and/or culturally responsive and sustaining practices.
  • Evidence of potential for teaching effectiveness and excellence at the collegelevel in teacher education, with an emphasis on teacher preparation courses or postbaccalaureate courses in elementary education
  • Experience with coaching teachers (preservice, inservice) in K8 settings
  • Demonstrated capacity and potential for leadership (i.e., supporting other teachers, facilitating professional development), program coordination, and/or curriculum design
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop partnerships with school district administrators (e.g., Long Beach Unified School District [LBUSD]).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use of a wide range of instructional technologies pertaining to teacher education, including online teaching
  • Demonstrated capacity and potential for working with accreditation agencies and/or community partners
  • Experience of successfully working with populations demographically and socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body

  • EDEL 380 Teaching and Learning in a Democratic Society
  • EDEL 413 Developmentally Appropriate Teaching Practices

  • EDEL 483 (Currently a capstone/teacher performance assessment support course)
  • EDEL 442 Teaching and Learning Language Arts, K8 (RICA)

- (Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof_)

  • Coordinate the Multiple Subject Credential Program (MSCP); supervise and coordinate clinical practice in elementary education programs, including the following responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Department Chairs and other program coordinators in activities (e.g., curricula, recruitment and retention efforts, program evaluation) that will propel the MSCP program to become a leader in the practice of urban education
  • Collaborate with the Teacher Preparation Advising Center (TPAC) to ensure effective and ongoing student advisement
  • Collaborate with the Office of Clinical Practice in maintaining and strengthening district partnerships
  • Facilitate MSCP program admissions process in collaboration with Teacher Preparation Advising Center and credential advisors.
  • Ensure students are paired with and assigned faculty mentors/supervisors. Collaborate in facilitating administrative shift as needed.
  • Maintain, update, and distribute MSCP program materials, brochures, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and flyers (e.g., Student Teaching Handbook)
  • Monitor Student Teaching by troubleshooting challenging placements, and, designing appropriate intervention programs
  • Ensure that curricula and program materials align with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing's current standards for program design and implementation as well as current and culturally relevant practices
  • Engage in program assessment and improvement activities that draw upon a wide range of data (e.g., Teaching Performance Assessments, exit surveys)
