The Project Manager (PM) manages the overall program implementation for client projects – leading direction, completion, and financial outcome for our clients on each assigned project with autonomy. Many times, the PM is managing multiple projects, ASMs simultaneously, or very large projects. PMs lead and influence others. The position requires significant business and financial acumen, and the incumbent must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills. Excellent communication and client service skills are critical to success in this role. Expert in all aspects of the building trades, the PM will support Business Development efforts, and shall ensure all operations of a project, from pre-construction through commissioning and warranty, while protecting the Owners' and CPS's best interests at all times. This role continues and enhances the strategic focus necessary for successful and effective field and operational excellence, and generally will involve 10 years prior data center construction experience demonstrating advanced knowledge and experience to successfully bring projects to closure. The PM shall perform their duties with autonomy and are responsible for all results of assigned projects. PM's lead and direct cross-functional teams across various projects to deliver each within the constraints of schedule, budget, and scope.
Primary Responsibilities:
There are several traditional areas of responsibility for which all PMs master in order to perform at an optimal level. These require the PM to maximize the resources available during the life of their projects and teams. These areas of responsibility are: Listen to those around you, and never be above the rules. Make known to the employees in your care What, Why, and How you expect performance and results as time progresses. Be proactive and stay ahead of project milestones – and address issues promptly when they arise. Clearly communicate the processes that must be in place and the criticality of proposed methods. Positively influence the culture and behavior around you - champion doing 'the right thing' by promoting an open environment for ideas and opinions. Hold accountable all employees for their roles and responsibilities; recognize accomplishments openly when the employees perform well and provide constructive feedback to improve behavior and performance in a respectful manner. PMs also perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Professional Requirements:
Capable of managing a single project over $100M and/or multiple smaller projects simultaneously
Responsible of maintaining key clients in a defined market while supporting the Company and Clients across regions
Strong financial acumen capable of insuring project profitability for the company
Strong construction contract acumen capable of ascertaining risk mitigation efforts around contract terms to protect project profitability and company interest
Capable of developing Project Cost proposals and negotiating terms of an Agreement between the Company and Client
Understands all types of Owner / Design / Contractor types of Agreements and has the knowledge necessary to appropriately navigate project related issues within the confines of ach Agreement
Understanding deferent types of construction applications in order to provide client-based feedback related to schedule, cost, and specific construction application
10 or more years Construction Management/Engineering experience with recent Mission Critical/Data Center background; BIM awareness and thorough understanding of the industry required
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), arithmetic and accounting proficiency, and time management skills
Technology proficiency –intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Suite of Products)
Intermediate to advanced construction management software use experience (i.e.: document control and schedule software, etc.)
Exhibits a well-defined ability to lead others and deliver predictable results
Strong management and leadership qualities and skills
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients, leaders, team members and subordinate employees
Ability to exhibit discretion and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
Strong decision making/ problem-solving skills
4-year accredited college degree is preferred in Construction Management or Engineering; however, relevant successful experience in lieu of formal education will be considered
Construction, Engineering, Safety, Quality, and related technical training certifications a plus
Travel: our company is travel-focused. All project-based employees will be required to travel from 25-60%, depending on location of job assignment
