We are holding walk in interviews from 3:30 - 7:00 p.m. on March 12th and March 19th at City Center Council Chambers, 212 Central Ave, Buffalo MN .

This is a technical and responsible position requiring the ability to read and accurately report electric and water meter readings for the purpose of revenue billing of municipal utility customers.

This position requires the ability to pay attention to detail and to assist in providing an essential customer service. Additional duties of this job are assisting with all Utility facilities maintenance and project support.

Examples of DutiesESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSResponsible for reading City of Buffalo utility meters and accurately reporting readings to the utility billing department for billing of products/services.

Inspect on site meter installations reporting any irregularities.

Respond to citizens/customer complaints/inquiries in a courteous and expeditious manner referring problems to the Crew Chief or supervisor when necessary.

Actively participates as a support laborer for all Utilities.
Observe and adhere to general work rules and safety procedures.
Perform maintenance and inspect equipment, tools, and safety equipment as directed.
Maintain a clean work and orderly work area, which includes maintenance work on buildings and grounds.
Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned. Typical QualificationsMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent degreeClass D driver's license.
Preferred QualificationsMN Class A CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements.
Environmental ConditionsWork will be performed urban and rural settings as required. This includes the possibility of working in hazardous, as well as inclement weather conditions. Performing maintenance functions in confined spaces and hazardous areas.

Operate equipment in performance of routine construction and maintenance functions, Physical ConditionsEssential and other important responsibilities and duties require maintaining a physical condition necessary for sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time; general manual dexterity; adequate hearing, vision and speech required; must be able to operate assigned equipment.

Ability to lift 50lbs frequently. Supplemental Information Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral.
Ability to follow both written and oral instruction.
Ability to use technology, ie. PC, Ipad, smart phone.
Knowledge in Word, Excel software applications.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
Skilled in organizing, multitasking, and prioritizing work.
Must be willing to work hands on in all areas of maintenance and repair regardless of department.
Must be able to work well alone or with fellow employees, as in being a team player.
Must be courteous and professional, as well as customer service oriented.
Knowledge of city operations, ordinances and policies.
CPR and First Aid Certified.
This position is not eligible for benefits.
