    IntroductionGRADE 16 LOCATION OF POSITION MDH Carroll County Health Department, Westminster, MD Main Purpose of Job The main purpose of this position is to provide protection for the public by administering and monitoring a comprehensive Community Hygiene Program, which promotes proper food handling, safe preparation procedures and sanitary preparation conditions by education and enforcement of the Food Service Facility Regulations.

    This involves the review, development, and implementation of policies and procedures, supervision of field staff, and monitoring compliance with program standards pertaining to this program.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
    Determined by the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists under the licensing requirements for Environmental Health Specialists


    Experience:
    Two years of experience performing inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with environmental health laws and regulations


    Notes:
    1.

    Candidates may substitute possession of a Master of Public Health or Master of Science degree from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.

    2. Candidates may substitute U.S.

    Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Environmental Engineering classifications or Environmental Engineering specialty codes in the Engineering and Natural Resources field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

    DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Th desired candidate should have knowledge of and/or experience with the Annotated Code of Maryland and Health General Articles related to food service facilities.

    Additionally, the successful candidate should have excellent written and oral communication experience. Experience training staff is also desired. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS 1.

    Candidates for positions in this classification must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist from the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists.

    2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.

    Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
