    The Systems Integration Group, in the Physical Detection and Deployment System (PDSD) Division, National Security Directorate is seeking an RPMP Site Manager/Field Technician to support the Department of Homeland (DHS) Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Program.

    DHS CWMD funds RPMP at $20M-$35M annually.

    Project scope includes science and engineering; logistical, operational, and strategic acquisitions; and deploying large-scale radiation technologies to support the illicit radiological/nuclear material detection/interdiction mission of DHS.

    The RPMP Site Manager/Field Technician position is a dual role that requires the ability to both lead and provide technical expertise to support deployment of radiation detection systems at domestic ports of entry (seaport, land, ECCF, mail, and ferry) and preclearance international airport facilities, supporting a range of U.S.

    government and non-government clients. Responsibilities A trained and qualified Site Manager is responsible for executing field deployments.

    The principal tasks are to assist with the planning of work scope and schedules, coordinate onsite activities with various U.S.

    government stakeholders, provide leadership and oversight during RPM field deployments, ensure that field work is executed using safe work practices, provide routine written and verbal reporting of deployment status, and participating in acceptance inspections of the work site.

    A trained and qualified Field Technician is responsible for establishing RPM system operations.

    Specific duties may include component and system-level electrical and mechanical assembly, troubleshooting electrical wiring and electronics, troubleshooting of radiation detection equipment, documenting as-built changes, collaborating with scientists and engineers to meet expectations.


    Other responsibilities may include:

    Provide technical expertise in the development, operation and implementation of security systems, operational security, nuclear material safeguards, vulnerability assessments, risk analysis, security policy, and critical infrastructure protection.

    Apply specialized knowledge of equipment and technologies deployed for physical security, WMD counter-proliferation, and interdiction operations.

    Develop and implement training, exercises, procedures, logistics strategies, concept of operations, planning, and assessment techniques and tools associated with the deployment, operation, maintenance, and sustainability of these systems.

    Conduct assessments, evaluations and analysis of these systems to support troubleshooting, forecast reliability and sustainability challenges, and identify opportunities for technological or operational enhancements.

    Utilize breadth and depth of knowledge related to national and international safeguards and security policies and guidelines in the development and implementation of security strategies.

    Areas of emphasis include program planning and management, system design and analysis, tactics and training, requirements definition, and operational sustainability.

    Serve as a technical subject matter expert for procurement, installation and maintenance of integrated systems, including identification of R&D opportunities associated with next generation security systems, counter-proliferation and interdiction technologies.

    Communicate with a wide range of federal, state, and local authorities regarding policies, requirements, and conduct of operations both domestically and internationally.


    Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
    + BS/BA and 7 years of relevant experience OR + MS/MA or higher and 5 years of relevant experience OR + AA and 16 years of relevant experience OR + HS/GED and 18 years of relevant experience + Qualifying experience in the following areas will be counted: Department of Energy, Department of Defense, Homeland Security, intelligence community or military that supports national security or radiation detection/protection operations

    Preferred Qualifications:
    + Demonstrated leadership as an experienced project manager supporting deployment, maintenance, and/or repair of radiation detection systems. + Experience in electrical and electronics assembly, troubleshooting and repair. + Experience in mechanical assembly and repair. + Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. + Excellent oral and written communication skills. + Ability to work in teams and alone. + Ability to obtain and maintain a TSA transportation worker identification credential (TWIC) and Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSBD-12) credential.

    Hazardous Working Conditions/Environment This assignment will primarily function within the following conditions:
    + Office/hybrid environment + Travel to field sites, vendor facilities, and DHS/CWMD Headquarters + Construction sites, warehouses, and other outside environments Additional Information This is a project hire anticipated to have an assignment of 6 months with the ability to last up to 12 months. Due to business needs and client space, US Citizenship is required. Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is subject to the Department of Energy Unclassified Foreign Visits & Assignments Program site, information, technologies, and equipment access requirements.
