    Under the direct supervision of the ED Director and Registered Nurse in charge of shift, performs a variety of clerical duties according to hospital policies and procedures.Assists medical and nursing staff to maintain an accurate, chronological record of the patients' Emergency Department stay and course of treatment from ages newborn to geriatric.Provides for open communication within the unit, with patients, families, physicians, other healthcare providers, and members of the public.Demonstrates knowledge of patient/staff safety measures.
    • Responsible for answering and transferring incoming phone calls and greeting and directing patients and visitors to their destinations.
    • Register all in and outpatient services, ensuring the proper papers are signed and distributed.
    • Assists with transporting patients and specimens to other areas of the hospital.
    • Assists with security by monitoring patient entrances.
    • Assist with general Business Office duties as needed, maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism concerning patient's rights.
    • Maintains communication with patient, family, providers, nurses and support staff.
    • Responsible for all accurate paperwork for patient transfer and admissions to hospital.
    Requirements
    • Completion of a hospital provided orientation/training program.
    • Minimum of one year of relevant experience preferred.
    • Good written and oral communication skills, accurate spelling. Must be able to relate well to people.
    • Certification of completion of Medical Terminology class preferred.
    • Computer skills required, MediTech experience preferred.
    • High School graduate or equivalent required. Must have ability to read, write and follow instructions.
