Purpose of Position
The Department of History & American Indian Studies invites applications for a non-tenure track Teaching Assistant Professor of History. The successful candidate will teach pre-1600 World History with a start date of August 16, 2024, contingent on availability of funding.
The Department of History & American Indian Studies is housed in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of North Dakota. It offers a B.A. and minor in History, an undergraduate Certificate in Public History, and a Ph.D. in History jointly with North Dakota State University.

Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach a 4/3 load during the academic year. Courses will include European and world history prior to 1600 and the Medieval World. The successful candidate also will develop upper-division courses in their specialty and contribute to the Essential Studies (core curriculum) and interdisciplinary Cornerstone humanities programs on our campus. Courses will be a mix of online and on-campus teaching. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate coursework in a variety of modalities. The successful candidate also will be encouraged to maintain an active research agenda, with up to 10% of effort allocated to scholarly activity. All faculty are expected to contribute to service within the department, college, university, and community. Ph.D. in History or related field by August 15, 2024.
Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
