Purpose of Position
The Department of Energy and Petroleum Engineering invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professors to begin in the 2024 Fall semester.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesTeaching petroleum and energy engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, depending on qualifications.
Develop a high-quality, externally funded, and collaborative research program that involves both undergraduate and graduate students.
Participation in recruiting and outreach activities.
Establishing strong collaborations with the energy industry, especially in North Dakota.
Advising and mentoring students.
Participating in department, college, university, and professional service activities
Other duties as needed by the department.
Required Competencies
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students
Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students
Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department and the College of Engineering and Mines
Ability to adapt to current methods of teaching, including online delivery
Ability to engage industry partners and connect course content to the practice of engineering in the field
Minimum Requirements
Ph.
D. in Petroleum Engineering, Energy Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science or other related engineering discipline
Five years of energy industry experience or academic experience focusing on energy-related research or teaching
Evidence of a strong record of published research or other contributions to the field.
Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated understanding of the needs of the energy industry in North Dakota
Evidence of a proven track record of successful collaboration with industry partners.
Evidence of a proven track record of obtaining funding for research.
