    Description

    Puck is seeking a social media intern for the summer of 2024. This person must have deep knowledge of Reddit (i.e. be an active consumer and/or poster on the platform), and have a general interest in Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. They will work with Puck's Social Media Manager to produce and post content across Puck's social media platforms. This content will be based on 20+ weekly articles by Puck's journalists covering Washington, Silicon Valley, Wall Street, Hollywood, fashion, media, and sports. An ideal candidate will be a voracious reader, pristine writer, and eagle-eyed copy editor with outstanding reading comprehension and a strong muscle for succinct, pithy summarization.

    This internship role will support Puck's Growth function and report to the Social Media Manager.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Reddit curation - Reading Puck articles, identifying which subreddits they can be posted on, and crafting pithy post copy tailored to the community that summarizes the article and directs readers to a Puck link.
    • Podcasts - Post weekly episodes of Puck's podcasts across Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram by taking the podcast descriptions and tweaking them for social voice.
    • Cross-platform Social content - Shadow Puck's Social Media Manager to learn best practices for posting articles on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Assist with posting weekly articles.
    • Video - Help brainstorm/shoot/edit short-form video content.
    • Measurement - Gather weekly metrics re: post performance to report on progress re: platform successes and opportunities for growth.
    To best perform in this job, you will demonstrate:
    • Demonstrated ability (via personal social media or experiences at other companies) to strategically curate content across various social platforms.
    • Experience with and general understanding of the Reddit platform, in addition to a general understanding of other social media platforms and trends.
    • The ability to adapt and innovate content in a fast-changing environment.
    Qualifications:
    • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a degree program, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Business, English, Journalism, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
    • Passionate about subscription-based media and Puck's core coverage areas: Washington, Silicon Valley, Wall Street, Hollywood, fashion, media, and/or sports.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to produce compelling and engaging content.
    • Creative thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and campaign development.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of organization and attention to detail.
    Internship Perks:
    • Pay (based on 30 hours/week): Estimated $2,900 - $3,500 a month. Final compensation offer will be based on candidate's skill level and experience.
