    Psychologist Job Opening at Columbia University Medical Center Gender Identity Program

    Position Titles: Associate in Clinical/Instructor/Assistant Professor level positions in the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC)

    Job Description: The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a psychologist to join the Gender Identity Program in the Faculty Practice Organization at CUIMC. The Columbia Gender Identity Program is comprised of a diverse and multidisciplinary team of experts devoted to serving the needs of transgender and nonbinary children, adolescents, adults, and family members. Additionally, our program serves the needs of the LGB community.

    This is a full time, clinical position that will involve seeing children, adolescents/adults, and their families. As the position will include direct clinical care, candidates should have demonstrated interest and expertise in working with sexual and gender minorities, including children, adolescents, and families. The Columbia Gender Identity Program works closely with the Program for the Study of LGBT Health, allowing for several opportunities for scholarship and research collaboration. Candidates with experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well across disciplines and function within a multi-disciplinary team.

    The CUIMC FPO sees a mix of private pay and managed care patients and has a particular focus on serving the Columbia medical center community, among others. We prioritize evidence-based interventions and have an array of specialized programs to best serve our patients. All positions currently allow for hybrid work, with on-site time spent in our Columbus Circle offices in midtown Manhattan or on the medical campus in Washington Heights. Our faculty serve as part of multi-disciplinary teams with ample opportunities to learn from and consult with colleagues. There are also professional development funds available to faculty to support licensure renewals, as well as obtaining additional training, conference attendance, professional organization members, among other opportunities.

    1. Candidate(s) will conduct comprehensive intake evaluations of gender diverse individuals using a model of gender affirmation; candidate will also have skill in evaluating psychiatric disorders and psychological distress.

    2. Candidate(s) will provide group and individual psychotherapy.

    3. Candidate(s) will work closely with a multidisciplinary clinical team, including other psychologists/social workers, psychiatrists, and psychiatric nurse-practitioners.

    4. Candidate(s) will have opportunities to attend case conferences, peer supervision and Grand Rounds at CUIMC. Opportunities may exist for clinical supervision and teaching.

    Minimum Educational Requirements:

    PsyD or PhD in Clinical Psychology

    NYS license required.

    For psychologists: Instructor level requires graduation from an APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology, and completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship program. Assistant Professor level requires 2-3 years clinical experience in a hospital or private practice setting.

    Salary Range: Salary is dependent on years of experience and ranges from 105,000-130,000 with opportunities for additional compensation.
