    Description

    Denim Designer

    We are looking for a denim designer to join our private label design team. Design categories include basic 5-pocket denim, jackets, and fashion denim styles (will also include washed lightweight denim/non-denim/twill/PU/cord, etc). This candidate will work closely with the VP of operations as well as the rest of the design team to ensure cohesive, on-trend seasonal developments for all accounts.

    Responsibilities

    • Create styles from design concept to first sample. Track and manage own workflow and workload to deliver newness for each design cycle for each account.
    • Design into multiple accounts based on their specific customer profile and needs. Present these specific designs to various buyers at market appointments.
    • Create current and on-trend seasonal design concepts through thorough market research, competitive shopping, and vintage shopping.
    • Collaborate with other design team members for a cohesive collection across all categories.
    • Attend fittings, be active in advising and collaborating with pattern maker and team on fit solutions
    • Work with production team to assist with orders until final production (wash approvals, fit sessions, etc).
    • Initiate fabric selection for development and production that fits within design needs, production needs, cost parameters, etc.
    • Communicate daily with overseas partners
    • Communicate with buyers as needed

    Qualifications

    • 5-8 years experience in denim/washed garment design
    • Bachelor's degree in fashion design or equivalent training/education
    • Strong trend-analysis skills
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Team-oriented mentality
    • Adobe Creative Suite experience required
    • Ability and willingness to travel international
    • Previous experience in import business a plus
