    Description
    Youth Justice Behavioral Health is seeking to hire a Social Work Unit Supervisor to support a team of social workers who meet the needs of youth who intersect with the Youth Justice System and have behavioral health needs. These social workers work in the Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) and in the community. In addition to providing support to the youth and caregivers, this position will work with many business partners including Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR), Hennepin County Attorney's Office, Diversion Solutions, District Court, and community providers. The ideal candidate for this role will have an in-depth understanding of children's mental health and resources, knowledge of the juvenile justice system and will have previous supervisory experience. The candidate should also be able to actively engage with youth and stakeholders and consistently review the needs and goals of the program. This role will have social workers both onsite at the JDC and social workers in the community. The position will continually review team needs and goals, meet with direct staff, and coordinate information from Juvenile Probation, Children's Mental Health, the Hennepin County Attorney's Office and the JDC. This role will report to the Youth Justice Behavioral Health Program Manager under Behavioral Health.     Location and hours:

    This position is hybrid and will be performed both onsite at the Juvenile Detention Center, 510 Park Ave Minneapolis, MN 55415 and remote as job duties require.

    Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with some flexibility dependent upon facility and resident needs.

    While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

    New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

    In this position, you will:

    Establish and maintain standards for customer service and quality work through hiring staff, coaching, training, and evaluation of performance.

    Work with staff to provide information and referral, outreach, assessment, crisis intervention, service coordination, and case management.

    Manage successful change by providing leadership on county vision and mission, involving team in problem solving, and promoting thoughtful communication.

    Develop, recommend, and implement policies and procedures ensuring compliance with human resource rules, state statute, and assessment and case management best practice and standards.

    Engage the team in delivering high quality service to both our youth, our families, and our community partners.

    Lead team in monitoring adherence of case management standards as well as county and state standards, processes, and procedures.

    Serve as program lead, subject matter expert, and ensure program compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.

    Facilitate continuous process improvement of systems and programs by determining needs and improvements, developing plans, developing policies, procedures, and evaluating outcomes for services.

    Promote and maintain a work environment where all customers are treated respectfully.
    Provide leadership to further department-based strategies that align with county goals, mission and core values for diversity, equity and inclusion


    Need to have:

    One of the following:

    Master's degree or higher in social work or closely related field (or licensed as a graduate social worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work) and three years or more of experience as a social worker.

    Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or human services, and 27 quarter credits or more of graduate work in areas such as social work methods, human growth and behavior, principles of social welfare, and four years or more of supervised experience as a social worker.

    Six years or more of experience as a Senior/Psychiatric/Child Protection Social Worker at Hennepin County


    Nice to have:

    Minnesota certification(s)/licensure(s) in one or more of the following: Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and/or Licensed Psychologist (LP).


    Experience:
    Working in a supervisory, coaching, mentorship, or other leadership role overseeing responsibilities and delegating tasks to team members.
    The juvenile justice system or family court.
    Serving and engaging with diverse staff and clients.


    Knowledge of:
    Case management to include assessment, planning, and service development.
    County and community resources.
    Social work best practices and ethics.
    Diversity and inclusion strategies with a focus on disparities reduction.


    Ability to:
    Foster an environment that recognizes and respects cultural, lifestyle, and socioeconomic differences.
    Establish and carry out effective working relationships with employees, other professionals, agencies, and residents.
    Work in a fast-paced environment
