- Internal classification as a Supervising Environmentalist
- Directly oversee a team of 5-7 full-time natural resources staff, guiding recruitment, training, performance management, and day-to-day operations
- Provide leadership to cross-functional teams, standardizing activities like planning, budgeting, and outreach
- Lead work planning to ensure program success and individual focus on priorities
- Ensure workplace safety and proper equipment for staff
- Coordinate with key partners and funders, tracking funding opportunities and supporting application processes
- Drive continuous improvement, climate action initiatives, equity enhancements, and efficient processes
- Represent the county in external meetings with various stakeholders
- Stay abreast of policy changes and their impact on natural resource goals
- Manage budgets, purchasing, and resource advocacy within department guidelines
- Bachelor's degree in related field and four or more years of environmental program experience
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for off-site meetings
- Experience in collaborative program development and team leadership
- Knowledge of natural resource program areas and strong technical expertise

Job Title: Land and Water Unit Supervisor at Hennepin County Environment and Energy Department
The Environment and Energy Department (EED) of Hennepin County is seeking applicants for the role of Land and Water Unit Supervisor. This position involves overseeing staff dedicated to safeguarding and enhancing natural resources within the Land and Water Unit (LWU) of the Environmental Protection division. The selected individuals will possess a strong grasp of business operations, along with extensive experience in implementing the LWU's natural resource initiatives. Reporting to the LWU administrative manager, the supervisors will manage a team of natural resources experts, collaborating to execute strategic plans in alignment with environmental goals. Ideal candidates will excel in planning, organizing, and communication, demonstrating enthusiasm for fostering a unified and strategic approach to natural resource management.
Location and Hours:
These roles offer a hybrid work model, with tasks performed both on-site at the address mentioned and remotely as needed. Working hours are Monday to Friday, typically from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While the positions are hybrid, applicants should currently reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin or be willing to relocate to these locations.
