**Procurement Contract Support Specialist**

Blacksburg, VA **Type:** Full-Time **Posted:** 10/18/2021 **Job Description**

The Procurement Contract Support Specialist is a highly motivated, detail oriented position that will serve as an integral team member of the buyer's team within central procurement and will support the acquisition process of goods and services for the university. This position is responsible for the maintenance and administration of nearly 800 negotiated and executed term contracts among multiple and varied commodities and services. The Contract Support Specialist is responsible for tracking contract expiration dates, renewal periods, modifications and terminations of those contracts. They act as the point of contact for dealing with Government Procurement Organizations (GPO) whom Procurement utilizes for cooperative contracting.

**Required Qualifications**

Efficient in database management. Computer software skills in a Windows environment. High level of competence with Microsoft Office software. Excellent time management skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, organize and prioritize work. Assimilate new information rapidly, recall knowledge acquired and apply it appropriately to new situations to maximize use of time and ability to perform tasks. Good written and oral communication skills to express ideas concisely and logically to others.

**Preferred Qualifications**

Bachelor's Degree in business or related field and relevant related work experience. Knowledge of acceptable governmental procurement methods, terminology and principles. Knowledge of types and elements of contracts sufficient to permit review of contracts and perform related duties such as review, providing and seeking approvals and providing administrative oversight of the contract administration process.
