    SHIFT: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

    WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Peer Support Specialist provides culturally competent services that promote recovery, engagement, socialization, self-sufficiency, self-advocacy, development of natural supports, and identification of strengths. The Peer Support Specialist will be responsible for providing relapse prevention services, coaching, supporting links to community resources, or education documented in an individualized treatment plan. This position will also be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of clients to and from the Recovery Residence to the Residential facility operating agency vehicles.


    • Provides support by drawing on own experiences and professional skills to build a trusting relationship with participants


    • Serves as a mentor and role-model to participants


    • Provides consultation to treatment team members from a peer support perspective to support professional effectiveness and empower the participants we serve


    • Participates in outreach events for the purpose of engagement and client linkage


    • Provides direct services to clients including short term counseling, crisis intervention, and linkage with other necessary services.


    • Participates, when appropriate, in case conferences for clients receiving services


    • Develops and maintains effective relationships with mental health providers and SUD treatment providers to ensure that clients with ongoing treatment needs are successfully transferred to longer term services


    • Maintains accurate records and files and prepare reports as required by Program Manager


    • Assists treatment team members and participants in developing independent living skills to promote independence and self-sufficiency.


    • Ensures the confidentiality of client information and health records.


    • May assist in checking participants in and out for Intake/Discharge warm hand off


    • Support the client to use decision-making strategies when choosing services and supports


    • Transports clients in safe and timely manner while observing traffic laws and regulations


    • Assists clients with physical limitations on and off van.


    • Ensures clients have safely entered the Residential facility after exiting the vehicle


    • Lock and secure vehicle and ensure no passengers remain in the vehicle when left unattended.

    Requirements:

    EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION


    • High school diploma or equivalent required


    • 1+ years of experience with the process of recovery from mental illness or substance use disorder, either as a consumer of these services or as the parent, caregiver or family member of a consumer.


    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record for insurability under the agency's insurance carrier's standards
