Our Traveler Messaging & Affiliates XD team works closely with our Product and Engineering partners to envision, design, and ship connected experiences for Expedia travelers and affiliate partners. Were looking for a strategically minded, systems-oriented Senior Experience Designer who will collaborate with our partners in product, engineering, analytics, and research to deliver intuitive experiences that delight,empower, and solve real-world challenges for our customers.

What youll do:

Our product portfolio is broad and complex, so were looking for a Senior Experience Designer who can move across the work and deliver value both in the short term and as our products evolve.As a designer on our team, you can expect to do work that spans multiplayer social experiences, creator/influencer tools, B2C communications, and AI-powered conversational experiences. Sometimes youll own the end-to-end app experience vision, but youll oftenpartner with other design and product teams to learn their customers pain points and co-create an intuitive, cohesive vision for the experience.

Youll apply your towering strengths in visual designand storytelling to paint a compelling picture of the work, but thats only because youve first applied your superpowers in areas such as service design,interaction design, and information architecture to make sense of the user problems your work addresses. Youre experienced with workshop facilitation and can rally cross-functional teams to solve experience problems with you through swarms, sprints, or other low-overhead, high-output ceremonies.Youre well-versed in the Double Diamond as a menu rather than a prescriptive workflow, and youre equally motivated to ship, test, and learn through real-time product experimentation.

As a collaborator:

• Youll be an engaged, proactive running buddy and thought partner with Product, Engineering, Analytics, and other disciplines.
• Youll influence the product roadmap, using facilitation and cross-functional workshops to co-create a compelling experience vision.
• Youll present work in progress to business stakeholders, including senior executives, and make informed (but never defensive) calls on what feedback to act on, and how.
• Youll understand Expedias business and the metrics you support, driving design outcomes that balancecustomer research insightswith business intelligence, market data, and product analytics.

As a craft expert:

• Youll bring a modern perspective and an informed point of view on designing for AI/machine learning, multimodal experiences,and network effects.
• Youll role model and mentor junior designers in modern, principled approaches to native app design ?from motion and interactiontechniques to optimizingapp performance.
• Youllhold yourself accountable for the quality of our app experiences, both in the work you deliver and together with your working partners.
• Youllrolemodel best practices in sense-making, facilitation, and visual storytelling.
• Youll help set and uphold high standards for design documentation and delivery.
• Youllrolemodel best practices for using and contributing to Expedia Groups Design System and reference UI.

Who you are:?

• You have a bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience in Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, or a related field. Years and degrees matter less than demonstrated experience and the outcomes youve achieved.
• You have a portfolio of work demonstrating your approach to experience design at a sufficiently senior level. In addition tovisual demonstrations of craft and technique, were interested in how you articulate your process and bring others into your work.
• You have experience with (or a demonstrated interest in)designing for product experimentation, including A/B and multivariant testing.
• You have experience with modern design systems, both as a contributor and as a user, preferably at a platform company or a suite of branded products and services.
• You understandmodern user experience design, user research, and content design processes and practices to a level that enables strong cross-functional collaboration and an inclusive, engaged culture of multi-disciplinary critique.

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $173,000.00 to $242, Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $277,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individuals knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
