    Our client, an investment management firm, is looking for a Business Intelligence/Data Analytics Developer. This role is permanent and requires being onsite 5 days per week in Jersey City, NJ. Check out the details:

    About the position:

    As a Senior Software Engineer specialized in Data Analytics focusing on Cognos and data management, you'll play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing robust data analytics solutions supporting HCM and Compliance business needs. The ideal candidate should have a solid software engineering background, a profound understanding of data analytics principles, and hands-on experience with Cognos, Power BI, and database/SQL development.

    Responsibilities:

    • Cognos Development: Create, develop, and maintain Cognos & Power BI reports and dashboards for actionable insights.
    • Data Modeling: Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to design effective data models supporting business reporting and analytics needs.
    • Integration: Connect solutions with other systems and data sources for seamless and automated reporting processes.
    • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
    • Quality Assurance: Test Cognos/Power BI solutions rigorously for accuracy and reliability.
    • Documentation: Generate and update technical documents, including data models, reports specifications, and user guides.
    • Training and Support: Offer training and support to end-users to maximize the value of Cognos/Power BI analytics.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
    • Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on data analytics and Cognos Reporting.
    • Familiarity with HCM and/or Compliance applications.
    • Database and Data Integration skills including SQL and data warehousing concepts.
    • Report Optimization expertise in enhancing Cognos reports performance.
    • Data Governance and Security knowledge.
    • Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, or similar.
    • Experience with data integration and ETL processes.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Cognos certification.
    • Experience with other data visualization tools and platforms.
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.
    • Extensive experience in the Financial Services industry.

    Profile: Applications support engineer:

    • Providing software application support under supervision.
    • Performing analyses on software application functionality and suggesting improvements.
    • Ensuring effective front-end and back-end functionality of applications.
    • Consulting with the software development team and clients for application performance enhancement.
    • Managing code migration for synchronized functionality.
    • Identifying application errors and escalating critical concerns.
    • Documenting processes and monitoring application performance.
    • Providing SAAS platform support.

    Application Support Engineer Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
    • Demonstrable experience as an application support engineer.
    • Knowledge of Cognos reporting tool and BI concepts.
    • Programming language skills in React, Java, Python, etc.
    • Experience with databases and data management.
    • Ability to manage code migration and monitor performance.
    • Exceptional communication skills and problem-solving abilities.

    Optional skills:

    • Domain knowledge in HR, Compliance, or Finance.
    • Experience in SAAS platforms.
    • Experience with reporting software like Cognos.
    • Knowledge of cloud toolsets such as AWS or Snowflake.
