    Job Description

    The Internal Audit Associate will assist in the oversight and assessment of the internal control environment.

    The Internal Audit Associate is responsible for demonstrating skills in evaluating and documenting business processes and risks, including supporting application systems and reports, identifying and evaluating the design of controls, and executing and documenting audit procedures.

    Completes work in accordance with audit methodology, defined plans and schedules.

    The Internal Audit Associate evaluates the sufficiency of controls to reasonably address key financial and operational risks, monitors remediation efforts, coordinates efforts with external auditors, and assists in preparing reports for management.


    Overall Responsibilities:
    Develop a deep understanding of the Company's risks and controls as part of the SOX control environment;
    Participating in walkthrough meetings with process owners to develop an understanding of processes and controls;
    Testing and critically analyzing controls in place to address operational and financial risk;
    Accumulate, organize, and conclude on all audit evidence obtained;
    Deliver objective evaluation of the findings, conclusions, and recommendations;
    Identify root cause and actions needed to remediate each audit finding;
    Maintain regular communication with team members as well as external auditors and promptly address any issues;
    Perform ad hoc projects to assist in analyzing the company's risk and control environment as well as make recommendations for value-added changes/process improvements;
    Develop and maintain proactive working relationships with personnel across Brixmor.

    Qualifications:
    At least 1 year of public accounting/audit experience or 2 years of relevant accounting experience, with working understanding of the internal controls and audit fundamentals;
    Bachelor's degree required

    (Accounting/Business

    preferred); CPA/CIA designation a plus;
    Detail-oriented, deadline driven, self-directed and organized individual with ability to think critically and analytically;
    Strong written and verbal communications skills;
    Enthusiasm to work and interact with others in team environment;
    Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
    Working knowledge of JD Edwards a plus.
