- Project Management: Lead, oversee, review, and execute structural engineering tasks for a variety of projects related to assessment and restoration design of concrete, masonry, steel, wood elements and structures. Engineering tasks include detailed design, calculations, and development of repair details and specifications
- Leadership: Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to junior-level team members, as follows: Work directly with project managers to help implement project goals; Delegate duties to junior-level staff to implement project goals, as needed; Oversee and conduct quality checks on variable aspects of projects, such as project schedule, deliverables, fees, invoicing, and provide direct assistance to ensure timely project execution; Mentor and train one or more junior-level team members.
- Communication: Productively interact with client representatives and SME subcontractors.
- Business Development: Help to enhance the visibility of SME's expertise. In this regard, participation in professional organizations outside of regular employment is encouraged
- Safety: Exemplify safe work practices and follow the company's compliance standards.
- Has competency using computer operating systems and MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills to effectively interact with clients, team members, and supervisors, conveying technical information clearly.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, manage workloads, maintain accurate and detailed record-keeping skills, documenting field observations, safety concerns, and problem resolutions.
- Effective interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and team members, fostering positive working relationships, customer-centric approach to provide excellent service to clients, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
- Must be able to understand and adapt to change and react productively to frequent interruptions and changing conditions.
- Basic construction competencies including ability to determine location from surface features and landmarks by interpretation from surveys, road maps, aerial photos, topographic maps, and geologic maps; understanding construction stakes set by others, and color markings of utility companies.
- Has a general aptitude for identifying and resolving complex technical problems in the field, utilizing critical thinking and logical reasoning.
- Demonstrates ethical conduct, maintaining confidentiality and ensuring safety and security in all aspects of work, strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines, fostering a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Ability to safely use and operate ladders and stairs, scaffolds, lifts and other equipment to access existing or under-construction buildings recording the necessary field data to conduct structural analysis and produce technical documents for building systems and components.
- Ability to learn new concepts and adapt to challenges.
- Ability to work overtime, including weekends on an as-needed basis.
- Ability to work in an efficient and organized manner independently and with a team, as well as the desire for continuous learning.
- Medically fit to use a respiratory protective device and other personal protective equipment.
- Ability to work in varied environments as dictated by the project, for example:
- Sitting and use of a computer for prolonged periods of time.
- Work in confined spaces and at heights greater than six feet (potentially on ladders, boom lifts, and swing stages).
- Work that may be conducted in a laboratory environment or in the field where exposure to chemicals, noise, dust, variations in temperature and humidity, fumes, and various types of equipment.
