    ABOUT THE POSITION:

    The Development Coordinator is responsible for providing comprehensive support to the development team. This is an exciting , hands-on position with growth potential. This role presents an opportunity for a compassionate and empathetic individual who is detail oriented and has strong multi-tasking skills to help ensure efficient operation of the organization, leading to greater success in support of our mission. The ability to connect with the mission and values of Samaritans is vital. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer.

    This is a hybrid position requiring two days a week at our Boston office in Downtown Crossing. The in-office days for Development are currently Monday and Wednesday, though they are subject to change.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage gift and grant acknowledgement process, ensuring and accurate, efficient and timely schedule that stewards' donors. Includes drafting thank you letters, daily accurate check deposit, data entry of gifts and constituent information, and filing backup materials.
    • Perform regular imports to Salesforce from 3rd party vendors/processors, and other sources.
    • Develop reports, produce mailing lists, record maintenance and event tracking in Salesforce.
    • Answer calls to the Development phone and email accounts.
    • Administrative support for the department, including submission of monthly departmental expense reports, organizing and overseeing departmental weekly meetings, taking minutes, coordinating mailings, and ordering supplies.
    • Provide on-site support at events including the 5K Run/Walk for Suicide Prevention and Breakfast for Hope.
    • Monitor and track event sponsorship pledges and provide outreach for collection
    • Assist in communicating with Board and Council members on monthly donor gift acknowledgement and outreach.
    • Support annual funds, appeals, monthly giving program and assist in researching and stewarding annual fund donors.
    • Support coordination and preparation for site visits from funders and corporate partners.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • 2-3 years of non-profit or administrative experiences required.
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, project management skills required and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Experience with CRM software Salesforce preferred.
    • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to interact effectively with others and function well as a member of a team.
    • Assist with other projects as assigned.
    • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential material.
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams required.
    • Knowledge of the field of suicide and suicide prevention a plus.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • Some travel may be required for the New York City Marathon, industry-related conferences, and visits to other agencies and event sites.
    • Flexibility in working hours appropriate to meet responsibilities is required including some evenings and weekends.
    • Successfully complete Samaritans' staff befriending training.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Some travel may be required for industry-related conferences as well as visits to other agencies and event sites. Flexibility in working hours appropriate to meet responsibilities is required. Successfully complete Samaritans' staff befriending training. Ability to work in both office settings and at events, requiring prolonged periods of standing, walking, lifting, and carrying event materials, as well as the capacity to adapt to varying environmental conditions and physical exertion levels.     SALARY & BENEFITS: Minimum starting is $60,000 and will be set based on experience and skill set.

    Samaritans' employees must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption. An offer is contingent upon proof that the candidate is fully vaccinated or qualifies for an exemption. All employees are working a hybrid schedule with an average of 2 days per week in the office, after a period of onboarding for new hires. Out-of-state applicants will be required to relocate to Massachusetts within six months of employment and also work the same hybrid schedule as all employees.
