    Description

    A premier law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking a skilled and experienced IP Paralegal to join the dynamic intellectual property team. This role involves managing large trademark and design patent portfolios, conducting U.S. and international searches, coordinating full search projects, and supporting attorneys in all aspects of trademark and design patent prosecution, maintenance, and disputes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of intellectual property law, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. This role offers a competitive salary range for $95-115k depending on experience. REMOTE flexibility.

    Responsibilities of the Paralegal:

    • Oversee comprehensive trademark and design patent portfolios with minimal supervision
    • Recommend new applications for filing and identify potential intellectual property-related concerns
    • Perform preliminary searches within the U.S. and internationally to spot possible trademark disputes
    • Examine and summarize the outcomes of initial search results to support IP-related decisions
    • Coordinate full-scale trademark search projects domestically and abroad, working with both internal teams and external partners
    • Draft responses to U.S. Office Actions and compile Information Disclosure Statements
    • Work closely with international legal counsel to address all elements of IP research, filing, prosecution, maintenance, disputes, and ownership issues
    • Compose client correspondence, providing overviews of IP matters, suggested courses of action, and evaluations of associated risks
    • Prepare and file global assignments and other documents related to post-transaction procedures affecting trademarks
    • Support U.S. and international opposition and cancellation processes

    Requirements of the Paralegal:

    • Minimum of 5 years as an intellectual property paralegal
    • Must have domestic and international experience in managing trademarks and patents
    • Experience with preparing USPTO filings and Information Disclosure Statements
    • Must be able to independently manage docket dates and follow-up actions in a timely manner
    • Must demonstrate strong research and analytical skills
    • Needs excellent organizational abilities with meticulous attention to detail
    • Must be skilled in clear communication with clients and colleagues
