    Position Title: Pastry Sous Chef

    Reports To: Executive Chef

    Salary: $90,000

    Other Forms of Compensation: Bonus

    Founded in 2005 as Hudson Yards Catering, Union Square Events is a culinary and operations leader in the hospitality industry, partnering with a diverse portfolio of best-in-class clients. We produce one-of-a-kind catered events and unparalleled dining experiences in a variety of cultural, corporate, entertainment, and private venues throughout New York City and beyond.

    Job Summary

    Union Square Events is looking for a talented Pastry Sous Chef for our partnership with the New York Marriott Marquis. This highly acclaimed Hotel in the "Heart" of the city, with rooms nearing 2,000 and over 100,000 sq ft of meeting space, is considered one of the busiest and largest in New York City.

    The Pastry Sous Chef is responsible for overseeing a team producing everything from mousses, cookies, quick breads, layered cakes, ice creams, viennoiserie to passed, plated and buffet styled desserts to chocolate work in a high-volume kitchen. This individual will assist in menu development, recipe testing, and working alongside the pastry team in daily production. This individual is expected to develop an understanding of ordering and inventory procedures and must have a good sense of food and labor cost, as they directly affect monthly and yearly revenue. The Pastry Sous Chef will assist in overseeing the overall running of the kitchen and maintaining cleanliness as per Company's health and safety standards. This individual must foster team spirit to create comradery for a strong, positive, and supportive working environment. The Pastry Sous Chef will assume all responsibilities in the absence of the Executive Pastry Chef. This individual must have flexibility in scheduling.

    Minimum 3 years of Pastry experience in large scale format baking, commissary, catering or hotel preferred
    1-2 years management experience preferred

    Emotional Awareness under pressure
    Being comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
