    Position Title: Associate Director of Student Life

    Department Name: Office of Student Life, Division of Student Success

    Position Reports To: Director of Student Life, until hired, Associate Dean of Students

    FLSA STATUS: Salaried

    Salary Range: $66,000 to $72,000

    Benefits: The University's comprehensive benefits program

    Days & Hours: Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Standard work schedule is 9:00 am to 5:30 PM, may be adjusted. Flexible schedule may require evening and weekend hours during peak periods.

    BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF JOB:

    The Associate Director of Student Life provides overall student leadership, program development, and day-to-day student support for the Office of Student Life. This person also works closely with student organizations and advisors. This position requires excellent planning, organization, program development, and leadership abilities.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • In conjunction with the Director of Student Life, oversee office hosted events both in-person and online including the development, coordination, and implementation, including but not limited to the Student Success Orientations and Welcome Weeks, and events related to social, cultural, community service, museums, outdoors, and sporting events.
    • Assist the Director of Student Life to coordinate Campus Weeks including communications marketing and awareness of events. Develop and implement student programs hosted by the Office of Student Life.
    • Provide referrals and/or resources for personal assistance support for students including homelessness, food pantries, and general student welfare.
    • Create, communicate, implement, and assess a robust student leadership development program for all students.
    • Gather, analyze, and present relevant information and data related to areas and programs, including providing post-event analyses, budget recaps, and assessment and/or evaluation. Make strategic recommendations for future initiatives.
    • Provide orientation and training to student leaders, student groups, and club faculty and staff advisors; oversee the implementation budget, policies, and practices in assigned areas or programs.
    • Provide guidance to student leaders, student groups and club faculty and staff advisors to assist in making appropriate choices and decisions that follow University policies and processes.
    • Develop, maintain, and implement a communication plan for the Office of Student Life and TimelyMD.
    • Develop and maintain an Office of Student Life webpage and online event registration.
    • Monitors websites, social media, and digital and print postings for designated areas.
    • Analyze and develop reports, portals, and student facing communications.
    • Participates in the strategic planning for assigned areas and assists the Director of Student Life in developing and implementing the overall departmental strategic plan.
    • Serve as the advisor to the Director of Student Life on risk management issues.
    • Direct, lead and provide guidance to other staff employees; may contribute to development of staff training programs.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Education requirement:
      • Masters degree in counseling, student affairs, or similar.
    • Years of experience: required
      • Three to five years related experience and/or training.
    • Knowledge of:
      • University student life, development, and/or leadership
      • Planning and coordinating events
    • Direct job-related requirements:
      • Preferred: higher education experience in student life, activities, programming
    • Skills and abilities:
      • Ability to learn, respect, and contribute to the Universitys mission and values.
      • Strong organizational, planning, analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including effective public speaking skills.

      • Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and/or applications as required for specific position.
