    Research Center Programs Manager Job at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center

    We are looking for a skilled Research Center Programs Manager to join the team at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Our focus is on developing innovative strategies to improve infectious disease health outcomes for individuals with substance use disorders. We need an experienced research professional to spearhead the research, technical, and administrative aspects of large-scale research programs.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Lead a diverse research portfolio of 5 grants totaling $10 million, managing interventional and observational studies.
    • Oversee clinical trials portfolio, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.
    • Develop policies and procedures for clinical research, promoting excellence and compliance.
    • Manage regulatory communications and ensure compliance with regulations and protocols.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to foster partnerships for program advancement.

    Recruitment & Team Leadership

    • Recruit, train, and supervise research staff, maintaining an effective team environment.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
    • Design team structures to achieve program goals and ensure high-quality work output.

    Technical Work & Program Development

    • Lead strategic planning and innovation, driving high-level strategy design.
    • Oversee technical work, training, and program support activities.
    • Demonstrate expertise in relevant technical areas to ensure program excellence.

    Professional Growth & Representation

    • Lead center-wide initiatives and strategic partnership development efforts.
    • Engage with other university programs for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
    • Identify opportunities for professional development within the center.

    Resource Management & Compliance

    • Direct meetings to discuss clinical trials portfolio, staffing needs, and resources allocation.
    • Oversee regulatory compliance and protocol development for subject safety.
    • Manage clinical research budget and financial administration.

    Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively as a manager in a team environment.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Master's Degree or PhD in a related discipline.
    • Eight years of experience in conducting large research projects.
    • Experience in project management, regulatory affairs, and financial management of clinical trials.
    • Previous experience with underserved populations and substance-using populations.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in clinical research in academic, government, or pharmaceutical settings.
    • Experience with IRB processes and protocols.
    • Supervisory and performance management experience.
    • Commitment to providing care to individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues.
