Job Summary
Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment, finished goods, and parts
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Plans the layout of warehouse and other storage areas considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored; maintains physical conditions of the warehouse and related equipment
Establishes operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventories current
Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow moving, and excess stock
Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, including cycle counts, aging reports, on time delivery, shipping schedules, etc.
Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow
Issues written and oral instructions
Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures
Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates
Manage and drive improvements in customer service order entry processes, freight and billing processes, and logistics coordination
Adjusts errors and deals with complaints
Assures safety compliance with all applicable regulations and plant protection activities
Advises and directs employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in related field.
8 -10 years of warehouse/shipping experience, including supervision of personnel
Required Skills/Abilities
Extensive knowledge of warehousing and inventory movement processes and controls
Proven ability to manage, direct, and foster a team-oriented environment
Product knowledge
Effective organizational and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of ERP (Epicor preferred) and Microsoft programs
Ability to multi-task
Ability to work and interact with all levels of personnel
Preferred Skills
2 + years in Food and Beverage industry
Previous management experience in unionized environment
Formal lean or six sigma certifications
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk to hear, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands to arms.
The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
