    Overview:

    The RISE Center at Robert Morris University fosters the development of an internationally recognized immersive learning and digital innovation ecosystem, leveraging technology to enhance our overall mission and vision. Our mission statement is to be a state-of-the-art simulation facility that serves the university and region. We nurture professional development through experiential learning supported by well-prepared simulation educators and staff. We are seeking a Simulation Operations Specialist who is part of our team responsible for simulation equipment the management and operations of daily simulation functions. The incumbent reports to the RISE Center Director and will work collaboratively with all members of the team and stakeholders across the university and surrounding community. This role engages with activities related to our center's equipment management, overall operations, and learning support. To be successful in this position the incumbent will heavily rely on ability to understand and manage technology, be a proactive problem-solver, be detailed oriented, be customer-centered, process and outcomes-oriented, and demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and learn quickly. The incumbent will be joining a high functioning and collaborative team committed to delivering excellent service and is committed to continuous improvement. Schedule: Varies per semester, allowed 950 hours per year, average about 20 hours per week per semester, occasional weekend commitments (1-3 times yearly) Hourly Rate: $25 to $30/hr Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a simulator operator by creating, testing, and running scenarios with faculty & staff instructors assuring that the simulator is in good working condition prior to the start of all simulations.
  • Establish and maintain effective workflows collaboratively to ensure smooth operations and optimal learning environment.
  • Facilities management: room set-up and clean-up for clinical simulations and debriefings; accountable for having the room props, equipment, and other resources prepared for the scheduled simulation activity. Ensure rooms are always tidied up and clean.
  • Create, and organize equipment maintenance schedules, student worker simulation equipment training and overall upkeep of all task trainers, high and low fidelity manikins
  • Ability to troubleshoot when equipment or systems malfunction by establishing close contact with suppliers and adequate training
  • Manage the center scheduling system to ensure efficient use of space for training sessions, workshops, and other activities.
  • Create internal schedules for daily simulation activities based on participant numbers, collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure schedules are accessible and ready for day to day operations
  • Maintains competence and knowledge of healthcare equipment.
  • Provides backup technical support for computer-based multimedia systems and their components, including operating digital camera, video cameras, monitors, LCD displays, and other equipment.
  • Equipment use and manipulation: Understands the use and operation of different simulator technologies ranging from anatomic models and task trainers to screen-based simulation to full-body patient simulators and virtual reality surgical simulators.
  • Maintains proficiency in existing and emerging simulation technologies, including basic theory, design, and implementation.
  • Collaborates with leadership and the advanced practice faculty to coordinate all simulation events.
  • Learning Support (10%)
    •Assist with faculty and other center staff development in the operational aspects of simulation.
    •Plays a role in simulation teaching when needed.
    •In collaboration with the Director, mentor graduate students and student workers assigned to learn and assist in our simulation programing
    •Promotes and communicates the center's mission and goals (provides information to faculty, staff, learners, and visitors concerning the functions of the Simulation Center).
    •Center operations improvement: Participates in technical training as necessary; attend conferences to stay current with simulation technology.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or graduation equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field preferred.
  • Experience with medical simulation training.
  • Experience supporting faculty in an academic environment.
  • Experience in an academic health system.
  • One year of basic allied health, simulation, or relevant experience required.
  • 2-5 years in medical simulation training

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • RN,EMT, CNA, or other similar allied-health related certification.
  • CPR certification.
  • CHOS, CHSE Certification
