    About the Job:
    Are you into Information Technology and looking for an exciting opportunity in New York State? Look no further! Join our team as an Information Technology Specialist 2 at NYS ITS where you will be responsible for providing technical support for hardware, software, and network connectivity in NYS ITS voice and data networks, as well as remote locations.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's or higher-level degree with 15 semester credit hours in computer science
    • Bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field with one year of experience in information technology; or 60 semester credit hours with 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology
    • Two years of professional experience in information technology
    Transfer Opportunity:
    Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, G-18; or in a title G-16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
    Special Designation:
    This position is eligible for special designation and candidates are encouraged to apply.

    Duties Description: Under the supervision of an Information Technology Specialist 4 (Data Communications), SG-25, within the Chief Technology Office/Enterprise Network Services group, you will be involved in various projects and initiatives supporting network environments in data/voice Data Center networks and remote locations. Specific responsibilities include:
    • Support Data Center Consolidation initiatives
    • Implement changes to the network infrastructure
    • Assist in resolving network issues and outages
    • Coordinate with User Support and System Administrators for Level II technical support
    • Configure, install, and troubleshoot network equipment
    • Develop and maintain technical documentation
    • Further IT data communications training independently
    • Utilize network monitoring tools
    • Understand data networking protocols
    • Be prepared for on-call duties and occasional travel
