Police Officers play a crucial role in maintaining law and order, responding to emergency calls, enforcing laws, and investigating criminal activities. They must act independently, exercise judgment in emergencies, and have a thorough understanding of law enforcement methods and legal codes to perform their duties effectively.

TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:

Administrative and preparatory tasks such as inspecting equipment, maintaining firearms, and attending roll call.
Conducting patrol activities, enforcing laws, and assisting the public.
Responding to service calls, evaluating incidents, and notifying relevant parties.
Managing crime scenes, gathering evidence, and coordinating additional resources.
Investigating incidents by interviewing witnesses and compiling facts.
Apprehending suspects and following proper procedures for arrest.
Dealing with hazardous situations and enforcing traffic laws.
Providing medical assistance and handling juvenile cases.
Resolving disputes, controlling crowds, and completing necessary reports.
Cooperating with other agencies and engaging in community relations activities.
Working collaboratively with fellow officers and participating in training activities.
Maintaining inmate safety and facilities in custody.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Meet specified criteria and select from Option A, B, or C.
No felony convictions.
No convictions for crimes punishable by imprisonment over 1 year.
Not subject to restraining orders related to harassment or threats.
Eligible to own, possess, and carry a firearm under state and federal law.
No requirement to register as a sex offender.
Honorably discharged from the US Armed Forces.
US citizenship.
At least 19 years of age with a valid Driver's License.
Good health and physical fitness.

Option A:

Prior APOSTC certification with Refresher training requirements.

Option B:

Associate's degree from an accredited institution.

Option C:

High school diploma or GED along with passing the ACT WorkKeys Assessment for Law Enforcement Officers.

Use of standard and specialized equipment such as firearms and first aid materials.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Mix of sedentary tasks and physically demanding activities.
Occasional lifting and ability to subdue combative individuals.
