    Substance Abuse Program Coordinator - Asheville, United States - State of North Carolina

    Description

    This position is currently located at Western Correctional Center for Women but may also have additional responsibilities in the development and delivery of treatment services at Avery-Mitchell Correctional.

    In addition, duties could also require the SAPC to manage a caseload if needed at either location should the need arise.

    This position reports directly to the ACDP District I Manager and is responsible for all resources, administrative supervision, and program operations for a substance abuse treatment program as assigned.

    The individual selected for this position will be experienced and knowledgeable in evidence-based substance abuse treatment modalities, as well as possess skills and credentials required to provide effective program supervision.

    This position provides administrative supervision for all assigned staff, developing work schedules, issuing work assignments, providing supervision and performance monitoring/evaluation, maintaining a high bed utilization rate with supporting documentation and performance measure recommendations.

    Quality assurance and outcome measures are assessed and monitored by this position, with results/recommendations forwarded to the District I Manager.

    This position will collaborate with stakeholders to further the ACDP mission, vision, and goals.

    Again, this position is primarily officed/located at WCCW but may be assigned duties at Avery-Mitchell Correctional, or other area locations as needed.


    Applicants must possess a current certification from the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board to qualify for this position.

    This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

    About the Department of Adult Correction (DAC)


    The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws.

    This department includes State Prisons, Correction Enterprises, the Division of Community Supervision and the Division of Rehabilitation & Reentry.

    To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:


    • Knowledge of the theories or practices of chemical dependency counseling
    • Experience in the assessment, treatment and/or referral of substance-abusing offenders or of clients involved in the criminal justice system

    High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND four years' experience working in a criminal justice environment within a correctional facility, jail-based substance abuse treatment program, or a community-based substance treatment program that serves offenders adjudicated through the criminal justice system after credentialing has been obtained.

    Management Preference


    Credentialled as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) (or an equivalent credential from a governing authority recognized by the North Carolina Substance Abuse Practice Board) to practice under the provisions of the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Act.

    All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institution.


    CERTIFICATIONS OR LICENSE REQUIREMENTS


    Credentialed as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) or as a Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Specialist (CCJP), (or an equivalent credential from a governing authority recognized by the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board) to practice under the provision of the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Act, plus an additional four years' experience working in a criminal justice environment after credentialing has been obtained.

    All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

    Alternatively, applicants possessing one of these credentials from a governing authority recognized by the NC Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board will be considered:


    • Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS)
    • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC)
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
    • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC)
    • Applicants possessing one (1) of these credentials will be considered including those in an Associate Status.
