Experienced Summer Camp Director/Administrator
Overview:
As a summer camp director/administrator, you'll play a crucial role in organizing and facilitating and overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the camp.
This includes planning and coordinating activities, coordinating staff assignments, managing staff, ensuring safety protocols are followed, managing camper registrations, and communicating with parents/guardians and ensuring the smooth execution of programs You'll also assist in staff training, handle logístical arrangements such as transportation and facilities management, and communicate with parents/guardians regarding camp logistics and updates.
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and campers are essential for success in this roleResponsibilities:
Program Development:
Hel[ develop and implement a diverse range of engaging and age-appropriate camp programs and activities that align with the camp's mission and values.
Staff Management:
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise camp staff members, including counselors, activity specialists, and administrative personnel. Provide ongoing support, feedback, and professional development opportunities for staff.
Operations Management:
Oversee all aspects of camp operations, including budgeting, scheduling, facility management, equipment procurement, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Camper Experience:
Ensure that every camper has a positive and rewarding experience by fostering a supportive and inclusive camp environment, resolving conflicts, and addressing any concerns or issues that arise.
Parent/Guardian Communication:
Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians through newsletters, meetings, and other channels to provide updates on camp activities, address questions or concerns, and solicit feedback.
Community Engagement:
Cultivate positive relationships with local community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders to promote the camp and foster collaboration on programming and resources.
Evaluation and Improvement:
Collect feedback from campers, staff, and parents/guardians to evaluate the effectiveness of camp programs and operations. Use this feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
Leadership and Vision:
Provide visionary leadership for the camp, setting strategic goals and direction to ensure its continued growth and success.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, recreation management, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in camp administration or a similar leadership role.
- Strong leadership and teambuilding skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff members.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problemsolving skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of camp programming, outdoor education, and youth development principles.
- Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and lifeguarding (preferred).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during the camp season.

$ $23.00 per hour
