- Edits copy, gathers resources, and organizes content for distribution on the Society's website ensuring that information is clear, concise, aligns with search engine optimization (SEO) best practices, and adheres to accessibility and usability best practices.
- Monitors all web content to ensure that information is accurate, up-to-date, grammatically correct, consistent with the Society's branding and style guide, and aligns with targeted campaign messaging and business goals.
- Proactively reviews and maintains an inventory of web content, as well as editorial calendars/lifecycles, and works with staff throughout the organization to review and/or facilitate daily and seasonal updates to information on the Society's website.
- Recommends photos, graphics, and videos that support overall branding and aligns with targeted campaign messaging.
- Consults and provides recommendations for ASH's content strategy across the Society's website presence including ASH Research Collaborative, ASH Publications, and other ASH properties as needed.
- Works with the Society's consultants to test, implement, and review changes to the Society's website and CMS.
- Works closely with other members of the web team and digital marketing team to expand ASH's digital marketing presence and create/execute an effective digital content st
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field and a minimum of three years of work experience in marketing and digital content editing required; experience with a professional medical society or nonprofit organization strongly preferred.
- Must be familiar with web content development, web content management systems, content marketing, user experience/user design principles, and search engine optimization (SEO) best practices. Familiarity with HTML is strongly preferred.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to distill complex information into easily accessible, clear, and concise copy.
- Outstanding writing, proofreading, and editorial skills.
- Self-motivated and highly organized with experience executing content strategy.
- Must be able to collaborate across multiple departments and successfully work with internal stakeholders, vendors, and agencies.
- Strong organizational and project management experience that demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Experience with project management tools (especially Wrike) is preferred.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY
The Digital Content Specialist is primarily responsible for evaluating and editing the Society's website content and managing the organization and reorganization efforts of content on the Society's web properties. In conjunction with the Web Coordinator and the Web Design Specialist, this position manages web content inventory, facilitates content updates, and oversees the development of new digital content for the web. The Digital Content Specialist optimizes content to ensure that information on the website is cohesive, organized, accurate and up to date, and aligns with best practices and the Society's branding and style guide.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires ability to speak audibly and listen actively.
Requires ability to use computers, telephones and other office equipment.
Requires periodic out-of-town travel.
ASH has a hybrid work environment, with core in-office days for all ASH staff on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and telework on Mondays and Fridays for eligible positions. The Society's headquarters is in Washington, DC, and is within walking distance of several Metro stations on the Blue/Orange/Silver and Red lines.
