- Responsible for overseeing the following: structural design of steel transmission, distribution, and substation utility structures. Has oversight, review, and approval of third-party engineering and drafting services.
- Reviews design calculations and drawings, stamps with P.E. seal as required.
- Provides leadership in the Utilities department through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
- Provides problem resolution, fast solutions, and improved working relationships.
- Provides technical support when required in both shop and office settings.
- Manages material requirements to increase inventory turns and reduce levels on hand.
- Oversees compliance with cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA, safety, complete and on-time delivery at low cost pertaining to engineering.
- Helps develop interface between engineering designs and estimating platform.
- Ensures appropriate calculations have been completed and meet the design specification requirements.
- Participates and assists the upper management team in communicating and identifying capital investments and improvement projects.
- Provides true costs within Company system. All manufactured items that we create are calculated out for our true costs.
- Revises and alters all drawings with approved engineering-based calculations before manufacturing of the product begins.
- Approves/formulates engineering portion of proposals and communicates with customers and engineers directly.
- Maintains relationships with customers and communicates all necessary information to keep them in the loop.
- Works with Sales personnel to answer technical questions in order to respond to customer issues.
- Has ability to prioritize tasks to ensure on time delivery for all parties.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Follows all Safety policies and procedures, and immediately notifies supervisor or other manager if Safety protocols cannot be met. Wears all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) per company policies or contractor requirements. Reports all incidents and accidents regardless of severity to supervisor immediately. Understands that he/she has stop-work authority if work cannot or is not being done safely. Please remember that all incidents and accidents can be prevented with proper job planning and hazard recognition (JSA).

Our client serves as one of the largest tank manufacturers and the sole pole manufacturer in West Texas / Eastern New Mexico. With decades of experience with energy in the Permian Basin and can deliver quality solutions quickly and efficiently They are looking to add a Engineering Manager to their team in the Midland area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality Requirements: Must learn and follow all quality requirements in accordance with policy standards. Responsible for the monitoring, qualification, and training of employees which also includes API and ASME, or any other applicable standards, procedures, and work instructions which may apply.
Management Requirements: Must have strong leadership capabilities and solid decision-making skills. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. Ability to make decisions with companies' best interest in mind.
General Requirements: Work requires professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or related field required. A strong background in the civil/structural Engineering field in the power delivery sector is preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Minimum 3-5 years' experience with Engineering or other construction related fields required. Strong technical skills and expertise in engineering principles and practices.
