SVT GmbH is a manufacturer of marine loading arms used to load or unload bulk liquids from marine vessels ranging from small barges to very large tankers.

Marine loading arms are large electro-hydraulically operated articulated piping systems that connect from the ship's flange manifold to the shore-side fixed pipeline.

The entire engineering and manufacturing process is done at SVT's workshop located in Schwelm, Germany.

Connex SVT Inc. is a subsidiary of SVT GmbH located in Houston, TX. Connex SVT is responsible for the sales, after sales, and service of all SVT GmbH equipment throughout North America. Connex SVT is currently looking to hire a Marine Loading Arm Field Service Technician.

The Marine Loading Arm Field Service Technician provides technical consulting and on-site support for equipment installations, commissioning, maintenance, training, and general repairs of marine loading arms to ensure equipment operates to SVT GmbH standards and customer's expectations


Other responsibilities include:

  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions during field calls at customer locations.
  • Ensure proper operation of marine loading arms by performing periodic inspections related to each customer's preventative maintenance programs.
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports and timesheets for all service jobs.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all Connex SVT customers to ensure future growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with all Connex SVT and SVT GmbH team members and share information across the organization.
  • Daily travel to customer sites, occasional weekends, overtime, and periodic oncall emergency service is required to meet customer's needs.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

The work environment involves working at each customer's location within North America typically on their jetty over water.

  • Must have a High School diploma and 3+ years' experience working as an industrial mechanic and/or an electrohydraulic technician with the ability to read and comprehend detailed engineering drawings, including electrical & hydraulic schematics.
  • Experience working at industrial sites such as refineries, chemical plants, bulk liquid storage terminals, or other industrial manufacturing or repair service shop as a millwright, mechanic, or maintenance worker.
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights via ladders, manlifts, cranes or scaffolding.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively throughout North America.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must have the ability to work individually, as well as in a team environment with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle for travel to client sites.
  • Ability to stand/walk for prolonged periods at times.
  • Ability to lift 50+lbs on occasion.
  • Must own a valid driver's license, TWIC card, and Passport.
  • Personal safety protection is mandatory while working at each customer's location.
  • Safety training is required including annual safety training as well as customer's site specific safety training.
  • Random drug testing is required to be approved for work at most customer's facilities.
  • Education and training of SVT equipment is essential. You will be required to continually receive training on all SVT equipment, as well as operation & maintenance procedures for the equipment.
  • Organization and Time Management skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to adapt to frequently changing schedules and tight timelines.

Job Details Compensation and Benefits:
