- Serves as an instructional leader and administrator within the building.
- Directs and supervises instructional staff and administrative support personnel within the building.
- Administers and oversees all staffing issues, concerns, and personnel actions within the building.
- Observes, coordinates, coaches, and/or evaluates all instructional staff within the building.
- Conducts and prepares evaluation reports on all certified staff in accordance with District guidelines and requirements.
- Develops and implements staff professional development.
- Collaborates with other District administrators (Supt., Asst. Supt., Director of Teaching & Learning, Director of Special Education, etc.) to determine staffing requirements, course offerings, student needs, and scheduling requirements.
- Serves on District committees or task forces to examine District initiatives.
- Convenes and facilitates faculty meetings.
- Administers and monitors school programs and curriculum in accordance with various local, state, and federal rules, standards, and guidelines.
- Monitors and implements building programs to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Develops building scheduling in collaboration with the site leadership team.
- Monitors student achievement, academic standards, and activities.
- Implements changes and curriculum programs within assigned areas of responsibility.
- Performs various public relations functions within the District; serves as the primary spokesperson concerning building-level issues and as a liaison between the building, District administrators, and officials.
- Mediates disputes between students, teachers, staff, parents, and the public.
- Prepares newsletters, memos, handbooks, coordinates website materials, and handles communications, as required.
- Coordinates special events and activities within the building to promote community involvement.
- Works closely with the PTA/PTSO and promotes involvement activities and fundraisers.
- Attends and organizes orientations, parent/teacher conferences, and other meetings/events.
- Prepares and administers the budget for the Elementary school.
- Develops and implements building-level continuous improvement plans.
- Seeks, prepares, and administers grants for building specific programs, needs, and/or projects.
- Oversees and coordinates building construction, renovation, and remodeling in collaboration with the District Facilities Manager.
- Oversees the ordering of all approved budgetary items.
- Develops and implements procedures to safeguard the safety of students and staff.
- Provides leadership and input into the design and implementation of building and District procedures.
- Monitors behaviors of students within the building (e.g. recess, hallways, lunch, bus loading, etc.).
- Collaborates and coordinates with maintenance, custodial, and food services in the upkeep and delivery of educational support services within the building.
- Attends training sessions, conferences, seminars, and district and departmental meetings.
- Keeps abreast of changing developments, trends, and instructional and educational technologies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, the Elementary Principal is responsible for providing instructional leadership within the building by implementing the District's strategic priorities and building-level continuous improvement planning action steps. The Elementary Principal is also responsible for directing, supervising, and overseeing all school operations, personnel, and activities within the Elementary school. The Elementary Principal collaborates and works closely with other administrators, staff, students, and the public in addressing and meeting the educational needs and goals of the District, and performing various public relations responsibilities within the community and its families. The Elementary Principal is expected to lead with racial consciousness and cultural competence to create racially equitable learning environments that energize and enhance the spirit of our students, staff, and community.
