The OpportunityThe Jacobo Group is building an interdisciplinary team of researchers with experience in biology, physics, computer science, and microscopy.
We are looking for a PhD level scientist to join us and be an integral part of this effort.Our group wants to study, at a quantitative level, how cell-cell communication leads to the formation of organs in a self-organizing process.
To do so we will use zebrafish as a model system and combine cutting-edge live microscopy, gene editing techniques, deep-learning-based data analysis, and mathematical modeling.
To this aim, we are looking for a candidate with experience in zebrafish transgenesis.What You'll Do
Work independently to research, design, and perform experiments related to their area of research within the larger project goals
Provide regular internal presentations to summarize their work and actively contribute ideas related to their work and the work of others in the group
Author manuscripts related to their research advances and present their research at relevant external conferences and meetings
Opportunities to partner with and mentor junior scientists
What You'll Bring
Essential –
PhD. in Biology, Physics, or related field
At least one year of experience with microscopy and image analysis
Experience in zebrafish work, including zebrafish transgenesis
Nice to have - Experience generating knock-ins using CRISPR
Experience with live imaging of zebrafish
The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Networkrequires all employees, contractors, and interns, regardless of work location or type of role, to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, including a booster vaccine dose, if eligible, by their start date.

CompensationScientist I = $100,000 - $137,500
Scientist II = $112,000 - $154,000
New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time.
To determine starting pay, we consider multiple job-related factors including a candidate's skills, education and experience, market demand, business needs, and internal parity.
