    PEAK Assistant for Heathwood Programs

    Heathwood Hall Episcopal School believes that each employee makes a significant contribution to its success. That contribution should not be limited by the assigned responsibilities. Therefore, this position description is designed to outline primary duties, qualifications, and job scope, but not limit the incumbent nor the organization to just the work identified. It is our expectation that each employee will offer his/her services wherever and whenever necessary to ensure the success of our endeavors.

    Reports To: Peak Program Director Work Schedule: As needed, flexible

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The PEAK Assistant for Heathwood Programs reports to the PEAK Director and works with other PEAK professional staff members in maintaining a program for students at Heathwood Hall. This position requires flexible work hours and commitment to work as needed and determined by the PEAK Program Director. Under the direction of the PEAK Director, the PEAK Assistant will provide a variety of support to the PEAK program by way of skill development, outdoor learning and activities, and PEAK trips.

    Current curriculum includes:

    • Skill development and related safety issues associated with climbing and belaying, paddling, biking and archery.
    • Activities and skills associated with hiking, camping, and backpacking, including:
      • Campsite selection
      • Tent set up
      • Cooking
      • Navigation
      • LNT practices

    Overall the PEAK Assistant will fill in for and/or provide support to the PEAK program initiatives.

    Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree in related field, preferred
    • Minimum of 3 year experience working with children ages 10-18 and adults, preferred
    • Minimum of 3 years experience working outdoors in natural elements or environments
