    Position Summary The Carl Vinson Institute of Government seeks an E-Mobility and Infrastructure Public Service Faculty member to support UGA's commitment to contribute to the state's efforts to grow its workforce, enhance prosperity, and lead the nation in e-mobility deployment.

    Georgia leads the nation with anticipated E-mobility manufacturing jobs, and the state is building out its infrastructure to meet demand.

    Communities, large and small, see E- mobility as an important way to promote economic development and improve quality of life.

    Through its campus-wide E-Mobility Initiative, the University of Georgia is enhancing research, education and outreach opportunities in this high-growth, high-tech commercial sector.

    The E-mobility and Infrastructure Public Service Faculty position will develop program resources and engage with academic partners and government officials to advance the State and University's efforts in E-mobility.

    This position will work with faculty, staff, graduate research assistants, and undergraduate students.

    This position will report to the Institute's E-mobility Lead and work closely with colleagues with planning and environmental, workforce development, local government, and training and development expertise.

    This position will interact with state government, local government, utilities, environmental groups, transportation agencies, and economic development leaders across the state.

    The position is responsible for securing funding to support research and outreach activities through contracts, grants, and other appropriate mechanisms.

    The position is also responsible for managing internal grant budgets and reporting. This position will be located in Athens, Georgia. The assigned geographic work area for this position is the State of Georgia.

    Position Responsibilities:


    • Develop, coordinate, and deliver technical assistance and outreach involving local, state, and federal agencies and academic, non-governmental organizations, industry and other partners to support E-mobility infrastructure deployment.
    • Work with academic and public service faculty, program staff, graduate and undergraduate students, and private and non-governmental partners to develop and deliver trainings, educational materials, and technical assistance to state and local governments and authorities in Georgia regarding E-mobility infrastructure, workforce development, economic development planning, environmental and energy policy, and funding.
    • Lead, participate in, and facilitate local, state, and federal policy research as well as community-engaged research to support E-mobility infrastructure deployment that serves state goals and community driven needs.
    • Identify funding opportunities and write or collaborate on proposals that further applied research and technical assistance in this area. Respond to funding opportunities and/or assist community partners with developing grant proposals as appropriate.

    Additional Requirements Required:



    • Knowledge and background working with broad-based coalitions, governmental organizations, economic development professionals, planners, policymakers, and state and community partners on issues related to workforce development, economic development, planning, electric transportation, energy infrastructure policy, planning, and/or and community development is desired.
    • Excellent research, analysis, and writing skills commensurate with a faculty-level position.
    • Ability to effectively provide technical assistance to government officials and community leadership to assist them with planning for the impact of the E-mobility industry in their communities.
    • Ability to write grants.
    • Strong public speaking and communication skills.
    • Background working with state and local elected officials and staff.

    The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Public Service Assistant, Public Service Associate, or Senior Public Service Associate.
