Duties:

***Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:
  • Managing all in
  • house and contractor activities engaged in the operation, maintenance, repair, alternation, update, or replacement of heating, air conditioning, electrical, ventilation, refrigeration, plumbing, steam, gas, sewage, drainage, pneumatic, and control systems on the Pentagon Reservation.
  • Oversees the work of four supervisors, and their assigned employees, who are engaged in the daytoday operations of the systems under the Pentagon Heating and Refrigeration Plant Program.
  • Reviews designs, specifications and other requirements for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HV AC), refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, sewage, drainage, control systems and equipment, including changes and modifications, throughout the Pentagon Reservation.
  • Develops and recommends annual work plans.
  • Keeps the Program Manager informed about the condition of the systems under the Program's jurisdiction.

  • The employee assigned to this position is designated as a MISSION ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE.
  • Employee must possess or obtain the following licenses
  • Universal Refrigerant Technician, Certification and National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers, (NIULPE), First Class Power Steam Engineer License or equivalent license.

You may qualify at the GS-13
level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:


Specialized Experience:


One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to overseeing work performed on facilities containing chiller systems with industrial size heaters; utilization of the American Society of Heating, Refridgeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers standards, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements and HVAC, refridgeration, plumbing, and pnuematic systems and procurement.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
