- Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to collection management.
- Proficiency in collection management software and databases.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Develop and implement collection policies and procedures to ensure the proper acquisition, preservation, and accessibility of the organization's collections.
- Lead and manage a team of collection professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the highest standards of collection management.
- Establish KPIs and benchmarks for the department
- Collaborate with other departments to identify collection needs and establish priorities for acquisition and deaccession.
- Direct and oversee the cataloging, documentation, and digitization of collections to enhance accessibility and facilitate research and education.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers and other external stakeholders to secure payments.
- Develop and maintain a standardized approach to collecting patient responsibilities across all lines of business.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in collection management and digitization, and implement relevant strategies.
- Develop and manage the collections budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards for collection management, including repatriation requirements.
- Prepare and present reports to senior management and board members regarding the status and progress of the collections department.
