    Job Summary

    Under the direction of the Clinical Director, the Interventional Scheduler performs a variety of office/scheduling duties.This position is responsible for gathering/handling of patients medical records to coordinate procedures between the technical and medical staff, scheduling patient appointments, obtaining and recording accurate information from the patient and physician's offices. The Interventional Radiology Scheduler (IRS) triages all incoming referrals for appropriateness and coordinates a visit that includes an interventional radiology physician assitant, interventional radiologist and/or radiation oncologist. The IRC assists in obtaining all diagnositic and other pertinent patient information prior to visit. The Interventional Radiology Scheduler ensures that access to the interventional radiologist for the referring physician and patient is both timely and efficient. The IRS coordinates the team, adding resources, physicians, nurses, PA's and anesthesia as needed for the patient along with pre-assessment appointments through an expedited channel to assure quality care in a timely and efficient manner.     Accountabilities

  • Serves as a resource for scheduling invasive/vascular/neuro procedures from referring physicians including but not excluded to: Vertebroplasty, Sacroplasty, TIPS (trans jugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt), Peritoneal drains, Nephrostomy tube placement and follow up, Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiogram with biliary tube/stent placement and follow up, Y-90 therapies for liver metastasis, Hepatic Chemoembolization, RFA(radiofrequency ablation) for liver, lung, bone and renal lesions, Cryotherapy for renal lesions, Renal Cyst ablation, UAE (uterine artery embolization), gonadal vein embolization for pelvic congestion syndrome and male varicocele. Schedules and arranges new and reoccurring appointments to the Interventional Radiologist. Serves as a liaison between multidisciplinary teams and departments, referring physicians, support staff, nurses, technologists and patients. Coordinates patients visit with all members of the team to ensure patient is seen within an appropriate time period after receiving referral. Provides non-clinical support to physicians, patients, and families ensuring all needs are met. Schedules follow-up tests/procedures, and visits. Prepares and collects all relevant patient information including tests/procedure results, history & physical documentation, and any other related documents as needed prior to the visit or procedure as appropriate. Triages calls from referring Health Care Providers and/or patients regarding problems/complications from procedures performed by the radiologists at facilities serviced by the radiologist. 50%
  • Assists with obtaining all required physician notes and diagnostic information such as pathology reports, laboratory results, radiology images, H&P's in preparation for patient visit. Schedules any tests on VA and other patients required prior to patient being seen in/by Interventional radiology. May be asked to help schedule Ultrasound and Vascular cases as the need arises, Calls ordering doctor for corrected orders, Calls ordering doctor for creatinine. 30%.
  • Schedules anesthesia cases needed for interventional radiology cases. Schedules pre-assessment appointment at Cross Creek Surgery Center and verifies appointment with patient. 15%
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations. Notifies appropriate persons in regard to unsafe conditions (electrical, fire, chemical, equipment) 5%

    • Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

    This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

    Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • No previous experience required. 1 year Scheduling procedures or healthcare experience preferred.
