    Innovation Software Engineer I

(HYG), a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Innovation Software Engineer in our facility located in the Portland, Oregon area. HYG designs, engineers, manufactures, sells and services a comprehensive line of lift trucks and aftermarket parts marketed globally under the Hyster and Yale brand names. We are one of the global leaders in the Material Handling industry and have been building relationships and partnering with our customers, suppliers, dealers and employees for over 90 years.

    Hyster-Yale is looking for an energetic individual who will have a positive influence on the organization and the HYG Innovation team. As an Innovation Software Engineer team member, you will be an active contributor into the next phase innovative solutions. This role plays an important function to develop customer solutions for operator and pedestrian awareness. Join our team as we take our trucks to the next level.

    Responsibilities:
    • Collaborate with Innovation team members on software design solutions to ensure the right solution for our customers
    • Document and maintain software requirements - including the design verification activities
    • Participate in System/Component FMEA activities.
    • Contribute to competitive product benchmarking projects - summarizing competitor proximity detection attributes.
    • Participate in truck testing and driving
    Qualifications:
    • Formal education with a minimum BS in Software, Computer or Electrical Engineering.
    • General knowledge of electrical circuits
    • Basic skills in control theory
    • General knowledge of network technologies and standards
    • General knowledge of Controller Area Network (CAN)
    • Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical design principles
    • Basic skills in control theory
    • Experience with embedded system development
    • Experience working in C/C++ development environment
    • Experience with SVN or GIT
    • Python experience
    Additional Qualifications:
    • Decision Making: Exhibit professional judgment and a practical understanding of issues; demonstrate ability to set priorities and take decisive actions to derive a solution.
    • Innovative: Creative thinking, troubleshooting complex systems, and develop unique solutions.
    • Systematic Problem Solving: Demonstrate ability to apply structured principles and methods to resolve difficult or constrained challenges.
    • General knowledge of Matlab/Simulink
    • Analyze data and generate test reports
    • Teamwork and Flexibility: Function well in a global team environment. Proactively solicit opinions, support and champion group decisions.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills when dealing with highly technical subject matter.
    • Understanding of forklift industry applications and truck options.
