    Job Summary

    The Product Manager is responsible for identifying needs in the insurance market for which Orion180 can provide a solution. This position will own the product lifecycle, collaborate closely with multiple departments to ensure product success, and create and manage project plans for product rollouts. The person will monitor the competition and ensure Orion180 maintains a competitive advantage in terms of quality and performance. The product team will work closely with the actuarial, business intelligence, information technology, marketing, sales, underwriting, claims, and customer service teams to ensure all proposed initiatives are executed.

    Role and Responsibilities

    To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and should demonstrate the following competencies to consistently perform the essential functions of this position. All employees are expected to adhere to and be knowledgeable of Orion180 operations standards, established security/safety rules, and requirements for attendance. The requirements listed below are representative of the fundamental knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the job successfully:

    • Guides products from conception to launch. Manages the product lifecycle from initial product development to implementation to on-going underwriting performance management as well as discontinuation schedules.
    • Identifies needs of target market and ensures that the product meets those needs and performs as expected including competitive landscape, targets customers and on point pricing strategy.
    • Defines detailed product requirements.
    • Comfortable juggling multiple simultaneous projects at various stages of completion.
    • Knows how to motivate and drive a project team to success.
    • Collaborates with sales and marketing departments to 1) define go-to-market strategy, 2) help them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer, 3) provide input on marketing collateral development on why product was developed, 4) and the ability to define and articulate competitive products.
    • Collaborates with technology team and technical writers to develop product documentation and training.
    • Owns, drives, manages, tracks, and communicates requirements for future product design or enhancement.
    • Works with Technology before and during the development cycle to ensure functional specifications and the final product meets market requirements.
    • Designs new product features to optimize product performance.
    • Knows and understands the competitive environment and provides technical competitive analysis in support of product positioning and sales.
    • Builds and manages a solution for partner integration with our product lines.
    • Overall product management for the product line/category.
    • Provides leadership and tactical delivery on projects while collaborating with sales, support, operations, product marketing, and customers.
    • Understands business goals and ensures they are met; builds and manages product line/category goals.
    • Identifies new product opportunities as needed, defining product requirements.
    • Builds product roadmaps and strategy by creating an annual product plan.
    • Ensures products are within optimal price margins, up to specifications and competitive in the market space.
    • Gathers and analyzes feedback from sales, marketing, customer experience and agents to define requirements within a cohesive product roadmap.
    • Writes product and business requirement documents to clearly articulate product features.
    • Creates business cases and returns on investment analyses for new features and presents to management.
    • Develops subject matter expertise in product domain including technical implementation, operations process, and competitive analysis.
    Qualifications and Education Requirements
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent insurance industry experience.
    • 3 or more years of property and casualty insurance experience.
    • 5 or more years of business analysis or product management experience.
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and sense of urgency in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and demanding environment.
    • Knowledgeable across multiple functional areas such as product management, , underwriting, sales, customer experience, finance, and marketing.
    • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to evolve product strategy based on research, data, and industry trends.
    Physical Demands

    While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, and reading, being able to lift light objects (<25lbs), and using standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or stoop to open/close cabinets, and reach for files or other standard office-type objects.

    Work Environment

    The office environment is quiet and, in a temperature, controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to conversations, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices, or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control. An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule for their duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on the company/department needs, project requirements, or customer demands.
