    Position Title: TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Tutor/Mentor
    Department: TRIO Program (TRIO)
    Division: TRIO Programs (TRIO)
    Employee Status: Part-Time Grant Funded up to 25 hours a week
    Type: Hourly rate: $20.00 (tutor/mentor) or $25.00 (tutor/mentor/interpreter) Reports to: Executive Director of TRIO Programs
    Supervision Exercised: None

    What You'll Do
    • Provide both general and course-specific instruction for TRiO students in various subject areas.
    • Deliver one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions to students with disabilities in the TRiO Student Support Services program.
    • Ensure timely communication with students in case of any changes to scheduled meetings.
    • Adhere to punctuality for all tutoring sessions.
    • Participate in tutor training sessions and engage with the TRiO Coordinator regarding student progress.
    • Maintain accurate records of tutoring activities.
    • Offer encouragement and support to enhance students' academic performance.
    • Respect the confidentiality of information shared.
    • Show understanding and appreciation for student diversity.
    • Abide by the ethical conduct standards outlined in the RVC employee handbook.
    • Assist in evaluating TRiO students in the Early Alert Program.
    • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

    Additional Responsibilities for Tutor/Mentor/Interpreter
    • Provide interpretation and translation services for participants and program staff.
    • Support with translating program documents for effective communication among students, staff, parents, and community partners.
    • Participate in parent/guardian meetings to deliver holistic support alongside academic guidance.
    • Proficiency in languages such as Swahili, Arabic, French, Spanish, Korean (consideration for other languages).

    Your Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications
    A Bachelor's Degree is mandatory. Candidates need to be available during daytime, evenings, and weekends.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Previous experience in mentoring/tutoring students in higher or secondary education is advantageous. Availability to work late afternoons or early evenings is beneficial.
