    Position Summary:


    Reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications, the Associate Director, Communications will be a dynamic and persuasive communicator leader that drives initiatives across areas of both internal and external communications, including managing press releases, social media, and overseeing web content to effectively communicate our company's mission, milestones, and initiatives to various stakeholders.

    The ideal candidate will be able to work both independently and as part of the Corporate Communications team within Corporate Affairs to tell innovative stories to a multitude of audiences while being deeply anchored on our differentiated platform and emerging pipeline.

    This role is located in San Diego requiring you to be onsite ~3 days/week. Local candidates preferred.

    Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

    These may include but are not limited to:

    • Work collaboratively to establish corporate brand planning, including brand strategy and identity, through management of company website and creation of other branding materials.
    • Direct the strategy and execution of employee communication, focusing on enhancing organizational culture, retention, and recruitment of top talent.
    • Establish integrated communications strategies aligned to key business and employee focus areas to increase awareness and drive employee engagement.
    • Develop and implement effective content and channel strategies for internal communications to ensure consistent and impactful messaging.
    • Drive communications initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that aligns with organizational goals and work closely with HR to align communication strategies with business objectives.
    • Develop and implement All Staff meetings and leader communications, including videos and other content.
    • Develop and oversee a robust corporate digital strategy, including social media, ensuring a consistent corporate presence and compelling content.
    • Regularly monitor corporate and broader pharma social media landscapes.
    • Organize and maintain corporate communication assets and materials.
    • Manage the corporate communications editorial calendar, ensuring it accurately reflects key milestones and supports integrated program planning.
    • Establish processes, timelines and rigor around communication milestones and review schedules.

    Education and Experience:

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree with 10 years of communications experience in corporate communications, internal communications and/or public relations in the biopharmaceutical industry with 7 years in a supervisory role.
    • Demonstrated experience in driving strategic communication programs, providing valuable and results-oriented counsel to internal stakeholders at all levels.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal, graphical, written, with a keen sense of how to connect with people and build trust.
    • Expertise with PowerPoint and building scientific presentations.
    • High comfort with dynamic review meetings requiring adeptness with live edits and working under pressure.
    • Ability to work effectively in dynamic environments that demands an agile mindset and ability to anticipate shifting organizational priorities and needs.
    • Ability to take and give direction, collegial, data-driven, and business-minded.
    • Excellent managerial, planning, and prioritization experience and skills.
    • Effective presentation skills to key stakeholders and key decision makers.
    • Collaborative attitude and ability to motivate and influence others without relying on position or power.
    • Experience with Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) review process.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    Physical Activities:

    On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means.

    Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.

    Travel:
    You may be required to travel for up to 5% of your time.

    The Anticipated Base Salary Range:
    $137,000-$182,000

    In addition to your base pay, our total rewards program consists of a discretionary annual target bonus, stock options, ESPP, and 401k match.

    We also provide top-notch health insurance plans for employees (and their families) to include medical, dental, vision and basic life insurance, 20 days of PTO, 10 paid holidays, and a winter company shutdown.

    The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience and education.

    "Full vaccination" is defined as two weeks after both doses of a two-dose vaccine or two weeks since a single-dose vaccine has been administered.
