DESCRIPTION:


Reporting to the health system Chief Strategy Office and being a member of the Strategy Office, the Director, Community Hospital Strategy will be involved in all aspects of planning for the future of UCSDH community hospitals for which the organization has management oversight or full ownership.

In the near term this is expected to be East Campus, with future expansion to Tri-City Medical Center, pending finalization of management agreement.

This role will also coordinate with leadership of El Centro Regional Medical Center to assist with planning for the hospital and broader Imperial Valley needs.

The Director will partner with community hospital CEOs and other leaders to define growth plans and connectivity to overall system growth opportunities, being sure to determine synergies and opportunities across campuses.

The Director will, in partnership with leadership, be responsible for creating mid
- and long-term growth strategies, defining supporting materials to effectively communicate those plans, and partner with operational leaders to determine initial implementation plans for these strategies. The Director will work with CEOs and other leaders to refine the vision for the future state of the community hospital in the context of community/patient need, organizational priorities, and long-term financial sustainability.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works collaboratively with growth and development executives, service line leaders, and others to develop business plans and/or strategic rationales for new programs, expansion of current services and other strategic needs.
  • Assists in development of strategies to meet strategic needs including identifying gaps in services, developing approaches to grow share and generate new business, and working with services lines to promote high value services.
  • Working closely with the Director of Health Sciences Planning, confirms that developed strategies and programs are supportive of health system plans & forecasts, and connect seamlessly with academic campus plans. Works with other Strategy Office team members to ensure that community hospital strategies are aligned with overall ambulatory growth strategies and opportunities.
  • Links strategic plans to financial forecasts for community hospitals in coordination with campus and health system finance.
  • Links strategic plans at the community hospital to service line strategic plans at the health system level; connects plans to Physician Group, CIN growth plans and local community physician opportunities, working in coordination with leads for those functions at the community hospital level.
  • Provides guidance on initial implementation plans associated with the mid
- and longer-term strategy plans; connects to Facilities Planning and Construction processes and operations to ensure that strategic plans are feasible and within capacity for the facilities and services in question.

  • Is the "point person" and "boots on the ground" for developing and maintaining strategic growth plans for community hospitals.

MINIMIM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Advanced degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration or related field required.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years or more of progressive experience in the strategic planning, business development, or administrative/operational areas of an academic medical center, medical group and/or health system.
  • Deep experience and expertlevel knowledge of the principles, concepts, and strategies involved in successful strategic growth and business development in a health system / provider environment.

Annual Full Pay Range:
$124,400 - $243,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)


Hourly Equivalent:
$ $116.67
